On Saturday night, the red-hot Melbourne Renegades take on their struggling cross-town rivals at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Read on for a preview of each team and the Sportsbet Big Bash betting promotion. Out of form Stars look for first victory After the Stars were thrashed by the Brisbane Heat on their home-turf, they need to find form against the Renegades. They sit near the bottom of the ladder with three straight losses to start BBL07. The main issues have been taking wickets and building batting partnerships. In those three losses, the Stars are yet to take 10 wickets and bowl a side out. The top three batsman also haven’t scored a half-century yet. So these two areas will need improvement if the Stars are looking to beat the Renegades. Renegades continue their winning ways After losing a close match against the undefeated Scorchers, the Renegades responded with a crushing 8 wicket victory over the Sixers on Wednesday. The bowlers led the charge as they kept the Sixers very quiet in the power play overs. Another positive was Aaron Finch found form with the bat, scoring over 50 runs. They’re in-form with the bat and the bowling lineup is one of the best in the Big Bash. So they’ll be hard to beat. Sportsbet – 50 Up you win! Bet with Sportsbet on the Big Bash until 7th January and if your top team runscorer bet reaches 50, they’ll pay you out regardless of the result. Cameron White is the form batsman of the Big Bash with two half-centuries in four innings. But we do like Aaron Finch as the best bet after last innings. The Stars don’t have a great bowling lineup and he does enjoy batting at the MCG. For the Stars, Glenn Maxwell reached 50 last inning and won’t be a happy man after he was left out of the Australian ODI squad. So he’ll offer value. Marcus Stoinis is also a batsman to watch in the middle order as he is the current top scorer for the Stars. Best bet: Renegades WIN ($1.76) At the moment, it’s tough to back the Stars even though the Stars are 8-3 against them. This is arguably the best Renegades side they’ve had in the competition and we’re backing them to win this.
