Midasbet Review [April 2024]

The new Australian bookmakers just keep on coming, and Midasbet is one of the latest to enter the market having launched in 2022. With a decent range of markets, reasonable odds and 24/7 customer service they’ll certainly have some appeal to punters, though they’ll certainly have their work cut out in what is an increasingly competitive industry. In this review, I’ll go into detail about what you can expect from Midasbet, taking a look at their strengths and weaknesses, answering some frequently asked questions about the bookmaker, examining their sports coverage and a whole lot more.

There are a host of different things that contribute to how I rate a bookmaker, and each of them has different strengths and weaknesses. These are, in my view, are some of the most notable of each for Midasbet

✔️Midasbet Strengths

• Customer Support: Every bookie has some form of customer service, but how useful it is can vary a fair bit. Particularly for a new company, Midasbet’s is pretty good, with their 24/7 live chat the most notable feature.
• Decent range of racing markets: Racing is one area in which new bookmakers can immediately compete with their more established competitors, with the markets generally being very similar. Midasbet is no exception, and their racing markets are as good as many far bigger betting sites.
• Easy sign-up process: Midasbet makes sure that there are no impediments to signing up with them, with a sign-up process that can be completed within a minute or two.

❌Midasbet Weaknesses

• No live streaming: This is no great surprise for a new bookmaker, as typically they can’t afford to pay for the broadcast rights – or at least don’t see it as the best way to allocate their funds – for events. Plenty of betting sites are in a similar boat, but there are more and more that offer some live streaming, and Midasbet can’t compete with them in that regard.
• Not the best odds: Another common problem for new bookies is their odds, and again Midasbet is no exception. They’re not the worst odds going around, but if you’re looking for the absolute best value then you won’t find it here.
• No live betting: Midasbet doesn’t have live betting available, an increasingly common feature of many bookmakers. You won’t be able to bet on events after they’ve already begun here, so for those who like to wait to see something begin to unfold before placing a bet Midasbet might not be the best option.

📋Conclusion

As always it depends on the individual punter as to which of the aforementioned factors are more important, though the lack of additional markets and average odds is probably something of a turn-off for some. Having said that, these areas are common problems for new bookies and are likely to improve with time, and the customer support platform and range of racing markets mean there is still plenty to interest punters.

The overall betting experience is very good courtesy of a fast website and mobile app.

Customer Support: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Though a phone number would be useful, a 24/7 live chat function makes this one of the best elements of the site.

Midasbet only joined what is a heavily saturated Australian betting industry in 2022, and coming up against some of the biggest names in global betting as well as plenty of Australian companies with a whole lot more experience, they’ve inevitably got some work to do to compete. As with most new bookies, they have plenty of areas in which they could improve, but they’ve also started off on the right foot in many others.

One of the first things I noticed when using Midasbet was their customer support platform. It’s not necessarily as comprehensive as some others – the lack of a phone number being a notable absentee – but a live chat function which is available 24/7 immediately puts them in the upper echelon of bookies with regards to customer service in my view. This is my preferred method of contact with a bookmaker by far – it’s fast, it’s easy and it is generally a good way to have queries resolved – and having this available every hour of every day is something that only a handful of competitors offer. With this feature, their customer support platform stands out as a real feature.

They also have a solid racing component of the site. As mentioned earlier in the review, this is an area in which lots of new bookies can compete fairly well with their more established competitors; as long as they have all racing meets available and the standard betting markets like win/place and exotics like trifectas, first four etc., which Midasbet does. This means you can easily switch over to them from another bigger bookmaker and not lose out on anything if you’re betting on racing.

There is, however, room for improvement elsewhere. Midasbet doesn’t yet have a huge offering of different sports markets; if you’re just looking for head-to-head, line bets or something similar on major leagues then you’ll have no problems, but if you’re a prop bettor like me, for example, then you’ll find more options with other bookmakers. As an example, upcoming AFL games only have around 20 markets or so, substantially less than the hundreds which are available with some more established betting sites.

They also don’t have the widest range of different sports available, though they’re also not the worst in this regard. At the time of writing, they’ve got around 17 different sports to bet on; obviously they have the big ones like the football codes, basketball, golf and so on, while they also have some less common sports like darts and volleyball.

In terms of payment methods, Midasbet’s offerings are relatively basic but should be sufficient to cater for most punters. I always use debit/credit card, which is available with virtually every bookmaker, so if you’re the same then you won’t have any issues here as they offer it as a method. They also enable bank transfers, and you can use POLi for deposits. This isn’t a massive range, but as I said, at least one of those that are offered is probably relatively easy to use for nearly everyone.

Finally, to the betting experience. The website that they have is a pretty good one; it’s a little clunkier looking than some others, with a fair bit happening on the home page, but importantly it loads very quickly and is quite easy to navigate. More recently, the team has added a betting app to its repertoire and it’s available on Apple and Android devices. I found it offered a similar experience compared to the desktop website, which was nice.

Overall, Midasbet is what you would expect from a new bookmaker, but it certainly has some potential to grow. They can’t compete with their more established competitors in areas like odds and range of markets, but they do a good job with their customer support platform, have a decent website and a good racing service. If they can improve their market selection and odds, they’ll have plenty going for them.

Midasbet Australia launched without a mobile app to begin but they’ve now come to the party. I found the app is designed to be compatible with various mobile devices, including both iOS and Android platforms.

I thought the app featured an intuitive and user-friendly interface. This allowed me to navigate effortlessly between different sections, view odds and place bets with ease, just like the desktop website.

The app also provided a consistent and enjoyable experience across various devices. Along with a similar theme compared to the website.

Fast loading times are crucial for a smooth user experience. The good news is that this app is optimised to load quickly. This enables me to place bets without unnecessary delays, which is great when the next race is about to jump.

Many betting apps offer live betting features and live streaming. But unfortunately, Midasbet aren’t that advanced just yet. But I’m sure they can improve this in the future.

But overall, it’s good to see they’ve added an app and it can only get better from here.

As I’ve mentioned a few times in this piece so far, the racing component of the Midasbet website is one area in which they’re able to mask the fact that they are a new and developing site. They’ve got all the markets that you need and decent odds, so making the move to them from another site for betting on racing is not likely something that will be too noticeable.

Accessing the racing markets is very easy. On the home page, you’ll be greeted with markets for each of the upcoming races, so if you just want to bet on something that’s about to jump you can click immediately into the pages for these races. Alternatively, if you want to take a look at all available races, click on the ‘Racing’ tab on the left-hand side of the page and choose from a range of options, including ‘Today’s Racing’, ‘Tomorrow’s Racing’, ‘Harness’ and more.

Once you click on one of these, you’ll be taken to a page with all the races pertaining to the tab you selected. The time until the jump for each of these races is clearly indicated, and by clicking on the box in which this time is indicated you’ll be taken through to a page with all the markets for that particular race, with the ability to scroll through to other races from the same meet at the top of that new page.

On the main page for each race, you’ll the fixed and tote win and place odds for each runner in the race, and by clicking on a runner you’ll get more information about their past races and prospects for this race. Those prospects are relatively vague and aren’t great to rely on exclusively as a form guide, but they can be used in concert with other research for a little extra information.

If you want to access other markets, look at the tabs above the names of the runners. These tabs include ‘Quinella’, ‘Exacta’, ‘Trifecta’, ‘First Four’ and ‘Quadrella’. If you want to bet any of these bet types, simply click on the relevant tab and you’ll be able to easily place a bet on it.

The margins are also relatively reasonable. You won’t find the best odds in the industry – anything that might rival the biggest bookmakers going around – but they are certainly competitive with plenty of their more established rivals.

Overall, this is a well-conceived section of the site. It’s really easy to find all the markets that you need on the website, placing a bet on them is also very straightforward, and the odds are decent, too.

It’s something I’ve noted a few times in this piece, but the sports coverage with Midasbet isn’t necessarily on par with the bigger bookmakers. Despite that, however, they do have the basics covered, both in terms of markets and sports offered. In this section, we’ll take a look at some of the different sports they do offer, and what kind of markets you can find for each of them.

Australian Rules Football🏉

Aussie rules football is, unsurprisingly, among the most popular sports offered by Midasbet. Their markets are predominantly on the AFL, though they do offer some on a couple of smaller leagues too. In terms of their AFL markets, while there are markets available for every game, there could certainly be more. You’ll find the big ones like head-to-head and line betting, as well as things like first goalscorer and quarter/half markets. There are also some player props; things like ‘to score x goals’ or ‘to have x disposals’, and the odds are actually relatively competitive in these areas.

Rugby League🏉

The preferred winter sport in New South Wales and Queensland has a pretty similar range of offerings to that you’ll find for Aussie rules. Every NRL game has a range of markets as you’d expect, while you’ll also find odds for International Tests, State of Origin and a few futures available. Like with Aussie Rules, the markets and odds for individual games are pretty reasonable, with all the standard markets available as well as a few player props like ‘first tryscorer’ and ‘to score x tries’.

Soccer⚽

Soccer is the biggest sport in the world, and typically the range of markets available on a betting site is reflective of that. Unlike Aussie rules or rugby league, in which there’s only a handful of pro leagues, soccer has leagues to bet on from all around the world. Midasbet doesn’t have as many as some other bookies, but there’s still plenty to bet on. You can find the big ones like the English Premier League and La Liga, while you can also bet on soccer in Japan, Mongolia, Norway and plenty more, plus there’s a lot of markets on smaller leagues within Australia.

Cricket🏏

Obviously the most comprehensive cricket markets come during the summer when Australia is hosting international sides, but regardless of the time of year there are a few cricket markets to look at. There are odds for international Tests, one-dayers and T20s for both men and women, though the markets here are relatively limited; for many of them you’ll be restricted to betting on the outright result. Come summer time, the big international games including Australia plus domestic leagues like the Big Bash will have a whole lot more markets.

Tennis🎾

There’s always something going on in the tennis world, which invariably means that there is always something to bet on, too. That’s certainly the case with Midasbet, with odds for whatever event is upcoming as well as for the major events set to take place later in the year. Mostly these markets are just head-to-head, tournament winner and sometimes individual set scores, but when the majors come around the range of different markets increases dramatically.

At this point in time, Midasbet doesn’t have any sponsorship deals. They are, however, an approved wagering partner of each of the AFL, NRL, Football Federation Australia, Rugby AU, Racing NSW, Racing.com, Racing Queensland, Tas Racing, Racing and Wagering Western Australia, Thoroughbred Park and The Races.

They may be young and have plenty of room for improvement, but nonetheless Midasbet has a few key features that help to give them a point of difference – or at the least act as reasons punters might consider taking a look at Midasbet. Below, we’ve gone into detail about some of them.

24/7 live chat

This is, in my view, the biggest standout feature of Midasbet. Every bookmaker has a customer service platform, but how comprehensive they are varies enormously. Midasbet might not have a phone number, taking away slightly from their overall offering, but they more than compensate for that with their live chat feature. To me live chat is comfortably the easiest way to communicate with a bookmaker, but while many of them offer it it’s not universally available, and for those that do offer it, 24/7 service is relatively rare. Midasbet’s 24/7 live chat function, therefore, makes their customer service platform really stand out.

Fast website

This is another big tick for Midasbet, particularly given that quite a few other bookmakers have websites which can be pretty clunky and slow to load. The Midasbet website doesn’t necessarily have the cleanest layout, but it does load very quickly; click on a link and you’ll be there almost instantly. This means that you can easily access the markets you need to, and if you’re looking to place a bet on an event which is about to start you won’t be impeded by the website.

Good racing markets

As I mentioned, while Midasbet is a little lacking in their sports markets and the odds aren’t great, the racing part of the site is a lot closer to what you would expect from more established bookmakers. You’ve got all the races you would expect available to you, and it’s easy to toggle between different events. The odds are also relatively decent, particularly for a new site, meaning that if you’re a racing bettor Midasbet is likely to be a more attractive option to you than if you’re a sports bettor.

The above features are some of the main things that Midasbet can point to as reasons bettors should give them a try. How important they are to you depends on the kind of things you value in a bookie, but if you bet on racing or like sites with good customer service, they’re certainly worth considering.

One of the final things to cover off when providing a comprehensive review of a bookmaker is the banking component, which basically pertains purely to the deposit and withdrawal methods they offer. I know – not the most exciting topic, but one that it’s important to take a look at to ensure you’re going to have a deposit and withdrawal method which you can easily use.

This might not seem like a big deal, but with so many bookies available and little to differentiate many of them, if you’re going to have to create a new account with a payment platform to use a bookmaker you’ll probably just choose to defer to a different bookie.

Midasbet doesn’t exactly have the most comprehensive selection of payment methods on offer, but what they do offer are a couple of the most common options, so you’ll more than likely find something that works for you. Personally, as mentioned earlier, I tend to stick with using credit/debit card as this is widely available and easy to use, and Midasbet is no different to their competitors in offering this as a deposit option. Alternatively, you can also use POLi to deposit funds, another easy and straightforward method on a platform with which many people already have accounts.

The easiest option with which to deposit is bank transfer, which will see your funds returned straight to your bank account. As is always the case, this takes a little longer than depositing; you’ll likely have to wait a couple of days to see it arrive in your account, and the exact amount of time that it takes will vary depending on your bank, as well as what time of the week you make the withdrawal (it won’t be processed on the weekend).

Customer support is another not so glamorous part of a betting company which nonetheless needs to be considered when looking holistically at a bookie. Like payment methods, it’s something which is a part of every bookmaker, but exactly how this service is put together can vary significantly.

The customer support platform is one of the best parts of the Midasbet experience, as you’ve probably gathered from the mention of it earlier as one of the best features of the company. The primary reason for that is the live chat function, and in particular the fact that this function is available every minute of every day.

It’s very possible that this will never be relevant to you; you might not be particularly interested in contacting a betting company to have a query sorted out at 3am, for example. Nonetheless, it shows a commitment to ensuring a positive betting experience for punters, and even if you might not be contacting them at 3am, many other bookies close their customer support platforms after business hours, so even at 7pm you might not be able to get any help.
