News Insights
- Fourth consecutive win pushes Stars up to 3rd on the ladder
- Renegades will miss out on BBl Finals this season
- De Kock with standout performance for Renegades
- Mujeeb sorely missed for Renegades
Unfortunately, for the Big Bash fans across the world we were kept waiting for the bat flip due to torrential Melbourne rain. Eventually, the rain eased up which allowed the time for a 14-over game between both Melbourne rivals. Instantly, this changed the mentality of batsman as they were looking to score quick runs in the limited overs.
Renegades Innings
Mujeeb was missing from the Renegades lineup due to NOC issues with the Afghanistan Cricket Board, He was replaced with Siddle for an extra pace option. De Kock opened up with a 23 (16) as he was starting to look like he may punish the Stars’ bowling. Unfortunately for Renegades, De Kock was the only batter that provided any runs without consuming too many deliveries.
Stars Innings
A very favourable chase was ahead of the boys in green, with plenty of batting firepower in the shed it seemed a huge task for the Renegades bowlers. Tom Rogers, took the responsibility of playing the anchor innings which allowed Maxwell to eventually partner him to see the Stars over the line. With this victory, Melbourne Stars are 3rd in the ladder and will be pushing for one of those top 2 places, something we certainly never saw coming!
