Dreamtime at the G is every year one of the most anticipated home and away games of the year, and this one is set to be no different, with both these teams finding themselves in intriguing positions as we near the halfway point of the season. The Bombers have been much improved under new coach Brad Scott, but an incredibly difficult month has seen them lose four games in succession. Against the Magpies, to a lesser extent the Cats, and then the Power, they were very competitive, but losing so consistently invariably dents confidence and that showed in a disappointing effort against the Lions last weekend. The Tigers over the past fortnight have been a great example of the opposite effect. They looked completely devoid of confidence over the first couple of months of the year, losing five games in a row after their first two games, but they got back on the winners’ list with an easy win against the Eagles. With a win finally behind them, they put in their best game of the season by a long way against the Cats last night, looking far more like the Richmond which has won three flags since 2017. Their chaotic ball movement was back, Dustin Martin and Shai Bolton are simultaneously playing great footy for one of the first times in their careers, and the Tigers look right back in the conversation for, at the very least, the finals. They can notch up another win against the Bombers this weekend.
