Les Bleus have created 7.1 non-penalty xG without converting. Part of this is poor shooting, but it’s not the only reason. France’s xG per shot is not much lower than Spain’s, who are the tournament’s top scorer. France have just been very unlucky.

While we think France have enough talent to score, we can’t see them overcoming Spain.

As we explained in the first of our Euro 2024 predictions, France are good money to break their scoring duck. Spain’s defence has not been the most solid. Without Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal, France should have plenty of good chances.  

Spain, meanwhile, are leading the tournament in scoring. La Roja have scored 11 goals in five matches. France’s fullbacks are their weak spots. Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal should be able to exploit the wide spaces like they did to score against Germany.
