After a long three-year wait, the 2024 UEFA European Championship is finally here. The big tournament kicks off early on Saturday morning with a match at Bayern Munich’s Fußball Arena München between hosts Germany and outsiders Scotland.

As good as Germany have been under new manager Julian Nagelsmann, Die Mannschaft have not been that proficient in front of goal.  

The Germans have scored more than three goals just once in seven matches since Nagelsmann took over last September. Scoring three goals against a compact, well-drilled side like Scotland will be difficult.  

As for the Scots themselves, the Tartan Army are coming into this one without their top goalscorer Lyndon Dykes. The Queensland native will miss the entire tournament with an ankle injury. Without Dykes, Scotland will have real trouble scoring a goal in this match.  

Germany -1.5  ($1.74) | QuestBet

Despite their poor performances at the previous Euros and last two World Cups, Germany are one the favourites to win Euro 2024. Julian Nagelsmann has cultivated a club-like atmosphere, picking players who fit his system over big names.  

Scotland, meanwhile, don’t have big names, period. Their only win in their last nine matches was against Gibraltar. Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain have kept them scoreless during that same period.  

It’s going to be very tough for the Scots to get anything out of this match, especially, as we explained above, without Lyndon Dykes. Barring multiple miracle goals by Scott McTominay, Germany should win this match by 2 goals or more. 

First Half Result - Germany ($1.70) | Bet Right

Most soccer betting experts seem to think Germany will struggle early against Scotland before eventually winning out. We agree that the Germans should win this one easily, but we’re not so sure that they’ll start slow in this one.  

As hosts with big expectations, Germany will come out firing and try to break down Scotland’s deep line as soon as possible. Anything less than early domination from the Germans would be a reason to worry about their chances in the rest of the tournament. 

Steve Clarke’s well-disciplined Scotland should be able to keep the match from being a blowout, but we’re confident that the Germans will be up by at least one goal after the first half.
