World Cup Squad Comparison

Virat Kohli’s side came into the tournament as one of the favorites and have lived up to the reputation. They finished at the top of the points table with a single loss against England in the league stages. It is the Indian top order that has set up win for the side with Rohit Sharma looking in brilliant form having already registered a record fifth hundred for the tournament. India’s bowling line-up has been exceptional so far in the tournament. The only worry for Kohli would be the form of his middle and lower middle order as they haven’t been able to do well in the final power play. In a high pressure contest Kohli would expect his men to put their best step forward and earn a place in the final of the tournament.

Openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma are in brilliant form and they have put on three century plus stands already with Rohit having already made five centuries in the tournament. Kohli has been consistent throughout the tournament and would like to convert his start into a big score. Rishab Pant and Hardik Pandya have done well as finishers in most of the games. While the form of MS Dhoni remains a concern for the side he would be expected to use his vast experience in the upcoming game. Jasprit Bhumrah has been the best death bowler and Mohammad Shami has been brilliant with the new ball. Pandya has played the role of a fifth bowler well and has offered flexibility to the line-up. The spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have had a good tournament and they would be looking to do brilliantly in the next game.

New Zealand

Kane Williamson would be concerned about the performances his side has put in the final leg of the group stage. Having had a brilliant start to the tournament where they didn’t lose a game in their first six encounters the team has suddenly slumped to a low losing the last three games. The template has been almost same for them in these games where their batting has let them down. The bowlers have done well but it is the form of the openers which is creating troubles for the side. Williamson would take heart from the fact that they had defeated India in the warm-up game in what was a one-sided contest. But in the back of his mind he would also worry about the strong batting line-up that India has. A win will take them into the second consecutive final of the tournament.

Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls their openers go into the game having hit a low and they would be looking to give good start to the side. The strength of the batting lies with Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor who have done well in the tournament. With Tom Latham, James Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme having had their good times with the bat the batting line-up is very strong for the side. In the bowling department the pace trio of Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry have been brilliant for the side in the tournament and they would be looking to pick wickets early. The side would expect to see strong performances from Mitchell Santner and Neesham in the middle overs to restrict the strong Indian batting line-up in the game.

Our Prediction for India vs New Zealand

India shall win this game

The business end of the tournament starts with table toppers India taking on New Zealand in the 1st semi-final of the World Cup at Old Trafford, Manchester. India has been in brilliant form and has lost only one game in the tournament so far. New Zealand on the other hand comes into this one with three consecutive losses behind them. After the brilliant start to the tournament they have hit rock bottom. However it will be a high stakes contest between the two sides where Kiwis are expected to throw all that they have in their bags. India with its momentum would fight hard to win this one in what is expected to be a competitive game of cricket at Manchester.

India are riding with great momentum and have a better batting and bowling line-up as compared to New Zealand. They are favourites to with this game and make it to their third final of the World Cup.
