Betfair App Review
Excellent customer service
Betfair started its Australian operations in 2005 and they’re licensed by the Northern Territory Government for betting. Betfair Australia is now owned Crown Resorts Ltd since 2014.
Betfair App Compatibility
The Betfair mobile app is available on both Apple and Android devices. For Apple, the app can be downloaded onto an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. On an Android device, the app can be downloaded by navigating to the Betfair apps webpage (https://apps.betfair.com/mobile/exchange-betting-for-android/).
Why download this app?
A mobile app is designed for convenience and ease of use. In terms of mobile betting, a mobile app is well recommended for betting. In terms of the Betfair app, it provides plentiful banking options, live in-play betting for racing and a wide range of betting markets.
Banking – Betfair provides a range of banking options for depositing new funds and withdrawing winnings.
Betfair SP – Whether you’re a Back or Lay punter, you’ll get a great price with the Betfair Starting Price.
Live Betting – In-play betting is available for all Horse Racing and selected Harness racing. This means I can bet live from the start of the race until the finish.
The Form Hub – Get the latest form on all Australian and New Zealand racing in The Form Hub section.
Racing – Bet on the latest races in Australia and New Zealand. They’re more focused on horse racing with the features provides, such as Betfair SP and live in-play betting for all horse racing. But they do also have markets for harness racing and greyhounds.
Summer Sports – During Summer, I can find the latest betting markets for Basketball, Cricket, Soccer and Tennis.
Winter Sports – Popular winter sports are available from the Betfair app, this includes Australian Rules Football, Rugby League and Rugby Union.
US Sports – Betfair has markets for American Football, Baseball, Basketball and Ice Hockey. I can also bet on a range of future markets.
The main advantage of using the Betfair app is using their betting features through a mobile device. The features include Betfair SP, live betting, The Form Hub and a range of banking option.
In comparison with other mobile betting apps, the Betfair app is on the basic side. It doesn’t have many innovative features and focuses more on speed/ease of use. Navigating through pages is a quick process and placing a bet is very simple. The homepage has all the latest betting markets and the main menu has quick links to important sections. The app is designed in the Betfair colour scheme of yellow and black.
The app can be downloaded on many devices, whether you’re using an Apple or Android phone. For Apple devices, the app is available on the Apple App Store and can be downloaded onto an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. While for Android, the process is a bit longer as the Google Play Store doesn’t allow betting apps. So this app can be downloaded from the Betfair app webpage as shown below.
How to download: Apple
- Visit the Apple App store from an Apple device and search for “Betfair”.
- Download the app to your device.
- Login to your account or join now.
How to download: Android
- Visit the “Settings” of your phone.
- Scroll to “Security” and select allow “Unknown Sources”.
- Open an internet browser and navigate to https://apps.betfair.com/mobile/exchange-betting-for-android/.
- Follow the prompts and install onto your Android phone..
On Apple devices, the app is mainly updated every 6 months with basic changes and bug fixes. The app would be more suitable for racing punters as the main unique features are designed for racing. Betting at Betfair is unique compared to other Australian betting sites as this is a betting exchange. This means that I can bet against other people instead of relying on normal bookmaker odds. The betting exchange allows for buying and selling. Buying is the “back” option and selling is “lay”. A lay bet basically means you’re betting on an outcome to lose, such as a Tennis player to not win the match or tournament.
How to bet on sports using an app?
Betting on sports using an app is a similar experience compared to the desktop website as shown below:
How to bet
- Select an upcoming betting event
- Choose to either back or lay a bet.
- Enter a betting stake and select “Bet” to confirm the bet choice.
The homepage of the app is well designed for finding upcoming betting markets. I can find next to jump races and featured sports directly from the homepage. In terms of sports betting markets, Betfair has all sports covered. More specifically, I can bet on popular Australian Summer sports during the Cricket season and Australian Open (Tennis). During Winter, they’re also a good option for betting on the AFL, NRL, State of Origin and more.
Betting on the races at Betfair is more focused on Australian racing. The racing menu will show all the latest Australian horse races, harness racing and greyhounds. Whereas to find International racing, a globe icon is available in the top right corner.
The Betfair mobile app currently provides these deposit options:
Credit / Debit Card – I can instantly deposit funds with a Credit / Debit Card. The minimum deposit amount is $10 and it also provides the ability to register a card for quick deposits.
POLI – POLi is available through the mobile app. The funds are instantly processed and the minimum amount is $5.
BPAY – BPAY deposits are available and they can take 2 to 5 working days. The minimum amount is $30.
Neteller – An instant Neteller payment method is available.
Skrill – Skrill deposits can be processed through the app by entering a Skrill email and deposit amount.
Bank Transfer – I can deposit funds using the bank transfer option. This will take 2-5 working days and the minimum deposit amount is $30.
In my review of Betfair, the pros include a quick and easy to use app, range of banking options for depositing, racing specific features and live in-play betting. The app design is very basic which would suit novice betting. It doesn’t have many innovative features such as pin-code login and sports betting promotions for example. So it’s an app that helps get a bet on faster, without advanced features.
