There are many common misconceptions about sports betting tips that can get bettors into trouble, leading to unrealistic expectations and poor decision-making. These are three of the most common of those misconceptions.

Good tips win every time
Reality: After you read a compelling argument about why a certain tip is good value, it’s easy to think that it’s a guaranteed win. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing, and even the most well-reasoned, logical bets will lose sometimes.

Experts can predict sport with certainty
Reality: Experts can certainly do a better job of predicting sport than someone with no knowledge, but nothing in sport is certain. No matter how knowledgeable an individual might be, the unexpected happens in sport, trends come to an end, and anybody claiming certainty about a tip is lying.

Following tips removes risk
Reality: Betting inherently involves a level of risk, regardless of whose tips you’re following. Taking notice of an expert’s analysis and selections can certainly help at times, but it does not magically remove the element of risk from betting.
Our role is to provide analysis and perspective; not certainty.
