We are all set for a close contest in the 1st T20I of the three-match series. New Zealand faces a tough challenge in this game as they take on a strong English side. The two teams have shared a close rivalry in the past, but New Zealand’s recent form doesn’t inspire confidence. They will start this game with lower odds but look to use the home advantage well. England has a power-packed team with a strong batting lineup and will pose a big threat to the hosts. We expect a close contest as both teams will look for an early lead.  

New Zealand Preview      

Mitchell Santner returns as the skipper of the team, and he will be under pressure to lead the team to a good start in the series. They suffered a 0-2 loss against Australia in the last series at home. The side is back to its full strength for this series but shall start behind on cricket betting sites. Santner wants his players to deliver a clinical show to challenge England.  

Tim Seifert is an explosive player, and he must deliver a strong start in this game with Devon Conway to put the team in a strong position. Rachin Ravindra will look to do well in the middle order and build partnerships with Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell. England Preview     

Harry Brook and his men will be fairly confident heading into this series. They won the recent series against Ireland 2-0 and have a strong batting lineup. However, the Kiwis pose a bigger challenge for the team and are a tough opponent at home. Though England will start ahead in cricket betting apps, it won’t be an easy task for them. Brook would look to get the best out of his players and take an early lead.  

Philip Salt is the star batter in this lineup, and he will look to deliver an electrifying start with Jos Buttler. Harry Brook must play the anchor’s role at No. 3 and build partnerships in the middle order with Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton. Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, and Jamie Overton are good hitters, and the team expects a strong show from them in the final overs of the innings.  

The bowling attack must be spot on with its line and length as New Zealand has a strong batting lineup. Brydon Carse and Luke Wood would look for early wickets to put the opposition under pressure. Adil Rashid will look to weave his magic in the middle overs with Sam Curran. The team expects Liam Dawson and Jamie Overton to do well in the supporting role.

In the last seven games at this venue, the team chasing the score has won five times. It is a tough wicket to defend scores as the small ground allows teams to chase big totals. The team winning the toss would look to bowl first and restrict the opposition to a small total.  

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS      

The skies would be overcast over Christchurch on October 18. Batting conditions would be excellent, though the weather would assist the fast bowlers. The ball has come onto the bat nicely in the earlier games. The side batting first shall need 180 runs on the board.

OUR PREDICTION      

New Zealand has a strong batting lineup, but the team has a few weaknesses in the bowling setup. They are up against a very strong batting lineup and need a strong show from their bowling attack to win the game. England has all bases covered with depth in the batting lineup and a bowling attack suited for these conditions. It will be a close game, but England has an edge.
