Asia Cup 2018

The Asia Cup 2018 is scheduled to be played in UAE from 15th September 2018. 6 teams will participate in this 14th edition of the Asia Cup. Thirteen matches will be played between 15th September and 18th September 2018.

Asia Cup 2018 Venues

Two venues have been selected for the Asia Cup 2018 matches.

  • Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai
  • Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi

8 matches will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium and 5 matches will be played at Sheikh Zayed rocket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Asia Cup Facts

Dubai International CricketThe first match hosted at Dubai International Cricket Stadium was Australia vs Pakistan in 2009 which was won by Pakistan. The first 5-wicket haul at this stadium was registered by Shahid Afridi (6-38).

The highest ODI score by a team at this ground is 355/5.

The highest score was chased by Pakistan – 275 against South Africa.

The lowest total defended here is 257 by Pakistan against Sri Lanka.

The first ODI played here was between Pakistan and India in 2006.

The 6 participating teams are divided into two groups for the Group Stage.

  • Winner of Qualifier tournament (Hong Kong)

Pakistan will meet the Qualifier team on 16th September 2018. India is set to play the Qualifier team on 18th September 2018.

India and Pakistan will lock horns on 19th September 2018 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

Group B teams and fixtures are all set and decided.

15th September marks the beginning of the Asia Cup 2018 with Bangladesh playing Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

The final match of the Group Stage will be played between Afghanistan and Bangladesh on 20th September 2018 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

  • This was the second defeat Bangladesh faced from Sri Lanka in the Tri Nation series ( 2017-2018). Bangladesh had faced a bigger defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka on 25th January 2018 where Sri Lanka won by 10 wickets.
