Nuno Espirito Santo welcomes Chelsea to Molineux as he attempts to get his Wolves side back to winning ways.
After an impressive start to the season Wolves have started to slip recently and will be hoping that home advantage can help them against one of the top sides in the league. But Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have lost their last three at Molineux and will find things tough against Chelsea.
Chelsea were curiously outplayed and out-thought by Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side recently and even the talent of Eden Hazard and Jorginho were nullified. Maurizio Sarri will be wary of other managers repeating those tactics but will be hoping for some kind of positive result from this one.
Wolves have already held both Everton and Manchester City to draws at home this season, while also taking a point from Manchester United and Arsenal on their travels. It is only recently that their form has dropped and they will be keen to arrest that slide before it gets more serious.
The defeat to Spurs was Chelsea’s first in the Premier League all season and although Sarri insists that his side are not ready to be pushing for titles they are still in touch with Manchester City and Liverpool. A win here would help with that but a 1-1 draw might be on the cards.
Wolves were playing some nice football at the start of the season and if they regain some of that form they could grab a point against Chelsea.
- Both teams to score
There is enough attacking talent on both sides here to give confidence to the idea of both teams getting on the score sheet.

Head to Head
Wolves were promoted from the Championship last season and haven’t beaten Chelsea since they were last in the Premier League back in 2011.
- Neither Mo Salah or Harry Kane have scored with the same frequency as last season as yet and Eden Hazard is still near the top of the goal scoring charts with seven Premier League goals.
- It took until the end of October – and the home defeat to Watford – for Wolves not to score in a Premier League match. Unfortunately they repeated that unwanted feat twice in the next four matches.
- Chelsea were actually further up the Premier League at this stage last season, only for a poor run of form in the second half of the season to leave them qualifying for the Europa League rather than the main competition.
- Wolves have had a fairly good run of results against London sides this season. They beat Crystal Palace and West Ham and drew away at Arsenal while only losing to Spurs.
