Spartak Moskva vs Rangers: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Stadion Spartak Moscow
Steve Gerrard’s men travel to the Russian capital looking to consolidate their position at the top of the group.
Spartak’s impressive start to the season has come off the rails somewhat with a mixed set of results in the Russian Premier League and no wins at all in the Europa League so far. The draw in Glasgow will have been welcomed though as they didn’t record a shot on target until the 70th minute and never looked like taking all three points away from home.
Rangers would be disappointed that the dominance shown in the home tie two weeks ago wasn’t converted into three points. Steven Gerrard has transformed the Scottish side from the club that limped out of this competition last year at the first hurdle. The long trip may tire the Scottish side but they will be confident of getting something in Moscow.
Just two points from the first three matches suggests that Spartak will have difficulty progressing from the group stage – but they have only played the one game at home so far. They actually thought they had nicked the points against Villareal only for an injury time equaliser to force them to share the spoils. They will need to get at least a point here.
Midway through the group stage Rangers will have little to fear from this group after some impressive performances so far. A draw in Spain was followed by a victory over Rapid Wien and the solitary point at home to Spartak will have frustrated the Glasgow club. With just one home match remaining they may play a cautious game so a 1-1 draw could be on the cards.
Spartak will be desperate for a first group win at home but Rangers have played well in their fixtures so far and could grab a vital point in Moscow.
- Total goals under 2.5
Even with all their pressure, Rangers were unable to break down the Spartak defence last time out and although there should be goals in this one there probably won’t be many.
