Rosenborg vs Celtic: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Thursday, November 29th, 2018, 7:55pm
Lerkendal Stadion Trondheim
These two meet for the fourth time this season with Celtic looking to stay in the race for qualification to the next round.
Rosenborg may be on course for a domestic league and cup double but they have not fared well in European competition this season. Knocked out of the Champions League qualifying – by Celtic – they are yet to win a game in this Europa League group and enter this match with only a very slim chance of progressing any further. It’s fair to say these two teams will be sick of the sight of each other by the final whistle.
Celtic have won both home games in this group but lost away from Celtic Park. Although it may well be very cold, this fixture should not trouble the Bhoys too much and three points will set up a final game against Salzburg in front of their own fans very nicely. There’ll be no worries about the temperature then either, even in wintery Glasgow, as a hot home crowd will make the difference.
Celtic have knocked Rosenborg out of the Champions League two years in succession and the Norwegian side have been unable to get revenge in the Europa League, going down 1-0 in Glasgow on match day one. With their domestic season almost over it seems like they are seeing the campaign out rather than having any realistic chance of picking up points.
This group was always going to be tough for Celtic, with the two Red Bull sides looking very impressive over the last couple of seasons. But qualification is definitely possible and head coach Brendan Rodgers will know that a win in Norway is vital. He should get the three points he needs with a 1-0 victory.
- Total goals under 2.5
Celtic only won the reverse fixture 1-0 at home and although they should pick up all three points here there may not be many goals.
- Celtic to win to nil
The Scottish side will not want to slip up in Trondheim and a narrow victory should be expected.
