Leipzig’s fate is out of their hands as they must rely on Celtic losing to Group B table toppers Red Bull Salzburg if they are to have any chance of progressing.
It was not meant to be this way for Leipzig as they know they must beat Rosenborg and hope that fellow Red Bull backed side Salzburg do them a favour and beat Scottish champions Celtic.
The home side should have little trouble getting the win they need to put pressure on Celtic as Rosenborg have been playing dire football on their way to five straight defeats in their five group games to date.
The newly crowned Norwegian champions can be forgiven for taking their eye off the ball somewhat with their domestic season recently coming to a successful end for Rini Coolen’s men.
With no chance of progression and the domestic season over, Rosenborg are there for the taking and a Leipzig side a little under pressure across all competitions will be eager to show their worth.
Just three goals in five group games means it is hard to see Rosenborg threatening Leipzig’s backline too much as the German’s repeat their two-goal winning margin over the Troll Children with a 2-0 victory.
- A Leipzig clean sheet
Rosenborg have only managed three goals in five group games with none of those coming on the road whilst Leipzig have netted four times in two Europa League group games.
However, since that result, Rapid have gone on to net seven times in just three games.
- Leipzig to win with a two-goal margin
Both Group A games Leipzig have won has been by a two-margin including the 3-1 win over Rosenborg in Trondheim making this one bet not to miss with the best sports betting sites for value.

Matchday two’s clash in Norway was the first time the pair had ever met as well as being the first time ever that Leipzig had played a Norwegian side in European competition.
The German outfit ran out 3-1 winners that day thanks to Jean Augustin, Ibrahima Konate, and Matheus Cunha firing Ralf Rangnick’s men into a 3-0 lead.
Issam Jebali struck in the 79th minute for the home side but it was nothing more than a consolation.
- Rosenborg join Dudelange, and Akhisar Belediyespor as the only three sides to have lost all five of their group games so far.

- Leipzig can only qualify if they beat Rosenborg and Celtic lose to Salzburg.
- There has not been a single draw played out in Group B so far.
- Leipzig’s possession percentage in Group B stands at 54% compared to Rosenborg’s 41%.
