Defending 6 Nations champions, Ireland, at home in Dublin, are looking to kick-off their title defence in 2019 against Eddie Jones’ resurgent England team and prepare for the Rugby World Cup in style.

Ireland’s Kiwi coach Joe Schmidt says Johnny Sexton is making a good recovery. Sexton, the reigning World-Player-of-the-Year in 2018’s team-of-the-year, has been troubled by a knee tendon issue in recent times. However, Schmidt say Sexton’s presence in his 38-man Irish squad means the fly-half should return when Ireland begin their Six Nations campaign at home to England.

For his part, England’s Australian coach Eddie Jones has labelled Ireland the best rugby-side-in-the-world, after his squad announcement in London last week.

“Ireland are the best side in the world,” said Jones. “They are a very well-coached and drilled side, and have particular things they do well in the game.”

“To beat Ireland, we need to compete brutally in all the contest areas of the game.”

Jones left New Zealand born co-captain Dylan Hartley out of his squad, due to a knee injury, which means playmaker Owen Farrell will skipper the team.
