Bournemouth vs Man Utd: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Saturday, November 3rd, 2018, 1:30pm
Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
The English Premier League action continues this weekend with in-form Bournemouth hosting Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium in the early Saturday kick-off.
Few would have predicted Bournemouth to sit two places above United going into early November, with this game pitting the league’s overachievers against the underachievers.
The Cherries have picked up an impressive four wins and a draw from their last five and sit sixth in the Premier League, with 20 points from their opening 10 games.
Once again a few may have been concerned that Eddie Howe’s side were relegation candidates this term but their early-season form has blasted away such doubts.
United meanwhile have endured a harrowing start to the campaign and sit in eighth position with just 17 points – although they have won seven from their last three outings.
Performances have improved with a stirring comeback win over Newcastle, a well-earned point at Chelsea and victory over Everton suggesting a corner has been turned.
This is an important game for both teams as both will want to continue their recent momentum, although a 2-1 victory for the victors is most likely due to their superior ability throughout their team.
- Over 2.5 goals
Manchester United have conceded three more goals than second-from-bottom Newcastle this season but conversely, have scored more than fifth-placed Tottenham. Bournemouth have netted 19 goals in 10 games – just one fewer than Liverpool – and have conceded 12. These are two sides with plenty of ability in attack, so a minimum of three goals appears likely.
- Both Teams to Score
Linked into the previous bet, these two sides have no shortage of attacking threat while both are also vulnerable defensively. Until last season, each of the four meetings between these sides in the Premier League saw both teams score while for United, their last three Premier League outings have seen 12 goals fly in. Expect plenty of action in this game with each side scoring at least once.

Head to Head
United have won four of their last five meetings against Bournemouth, drawing the other, including tasting victory in each of their last two visits to the South Coast. United won here 2-0 in April when Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku scored.
Bournemouth’s sole victory over United since their 2015 promotion was at the Vitality Stadium, when the Cherries won 2-1 in December 2015.
- Romelu Lukaku scored in both of these fixtures last season, netting both at Old Trafford and the Vitality Stadium.
- Bournemouth are unbeaten through their first five home league games this season – winning three and drawing two.
- Manchester United have collected just seven points from their five games on the road, scoring nine and conceding nine in that run.
- Callum Wilson (5) has scored more goals this season than any Manchester United player.
