Arsenal vs Liverpool: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Emirates Stadium, London
The English Premier League action continues this weekend with Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal in the late Saturday kick-off the standout tie of the round.
No side has won more points (26) than Liverpool this season, whose impressive start has seen them win eight of their ten matches with respectable draws against Chelsea and Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been in strong form but would likely admit that they have not reached their potential, with many results being ground out rather than won in spectacular fashion.
The same could be said of Arsenal, who have dropped just two points through their last eight matches – last weekend’s draw at Crystal Palace ending an 11-game winning streak in all competitions.
The Gunners have undoubtedly turned a corner under new boss Unai Emery but whilst they are just four points from the league’s summit, few would consider them genuine title contenders at this stage.
This is an important game for both teams due to the closeness of the league’s top five sides through the opening ten rounds of games.
However, as Liverpool are unbeaten and Arsenal not losing a game since August, a 1-1 draw in this fixture appears the most likely outcome.
- Under 2.5 goals
These games have produced plenty of goals in recent years but this season looks to be different. Firstly, the more pragmatic Unai Emery has replaced Arsene Wenger in the home dugout while Liverpool are now known more so for their steely defence than fearsome attack. Neither side will risk too much in this game knowing the power of their opponents forward lines and this will likely be a cagey, low-scoring affair.
- Both Teams to Score
Whilst this game is unlikely to be an open, free-flowing game due to the above reasons, there is still a very high chance that both teams will find the net. These two have scored a combined 44 goals in their 20 league games to date and they both have only failed to score in the league once this season – each time their opponent was Manchester City.

Head to Head
Recent fixtures between these two sides have tended to produce a lot of goals, with an incredible 27 flying in across the last five meetings – an average of more than five goals per game!
Last season’s meeting at The Emirates, just before Christmas, produced a 3-3 thriller while the Gunners have not beaten Liverpool in any of their last six clashes, a run dating back to April 2015, when Arsenal triumphed 4-1 in North London.
- Liverpool have scored a relatively low eight goals in five league matches on the road this season, but conversely have scored in each of those games.
- While Jurgen Klopp’s men have won each of those outings bar their 1-1 at Chelsea last month, when Daniel Sturridge’s late equaliser rescued them a point.
- Arsenal have won each of their four home league games since their opening day defeat to Manchester City – scoring 10 times and conceding just twice in that run.
