FanDuel offers players $200 in bonus bets if their initial moneyline wager of at least $5 wins.

If you’re new to NFL betting, don’t worry—you’ll have access to FanDuels’ Sports Betting 101, a resource used to educate new players about online NFL betting.

DraftKings Sportsbook recently updated its welcome bonus. It used to be a 20% deposit match up to $1,000, but now you’ll receive $200 in bonus bets when you wager just $5.

This offer is similar to FanDuel, and here, you’ll have access to deeper futures betting markets. Still, in season, the available player props are unmatched.

There are numerous statistical categories to choose from, and the number of players available exceeds the competition.

You can also expect daily NFL betting promos, especially on NFL game days and island games such as Sunday, Monday, and Thursday Night Football.

Like FanDuel, DraftKings started as a daily fantasy sports and are still one of the leaders in the industry.

There aren’t as many NFL betting opportunities in the futures market as in other sites, but the odds are competitive with the top NFL football sites.

During the NFL season, you can participate in Perfect 10, a free-to-play game where you can win up to $10,000, picking against the spread on ten games. If you get them all correct, you’ll win prize money.

Borgata Sportsbook LogoBorgata Sportsbook: Best Bet Editing Feature for NFL Betting

Borgata Sportsbook is under the same umbrella as BetMGM, so you’ll notice some similarities with the site.

On its own, Borgata Sportsbook is notable due to its live-streaming capability, but it’s irrelevant for NFL betting since it doesn’t feature NFL games.

Borgata is also among the best online football gambling sites for editing bets. This allows you to make edits after making them but before the contest begins.

There aren’t many of the best sportsbooks for betting on NFL games online that offer this feature.

Like FanDuel, there’s a Sports Betting Guide resource that allows you to learn about the different betting markets available for NFL betting.

There’s currently no welcome bonus available, and you can access Super Bowl 2024 winner futures.

Features: Cash Out, Live Betting, Sports Betting Guide, Same Game Parlays, Online Casino in select states, Easy Parlay, Live Streaming.

Bet365 Sportsbook LogoBet365 Sportsbook: Fantastic Live Betting Interface for NFL Betting

When you log onto the bet365 Sportsbook page, it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but there are plenty of features available that make the NFL betting experience exceedingly more enjoyable.

The most notable is the live betting interface.

While nothing compares to watching a game, bet365 Sportsbook provides players with a feed that updates them on what’s happening in the game, along with key statistics, box scores, and a summary of what’s happening.

This will allow players to feel more confident making live wagers instead of just observing the betting lines.

The “Bet & Get” welcome bonus is similar to FanDuel and DraftKings but arguably offers more value as you’ll get $200 in bonus bets after wagering just $1. Then there is the “First Bet Safety Net”, which is similar to BetMGM’s first bet insurance.

During the NFL betting offseason, there are 21 futures betting markets, including individual awards, important wins, and the 2024 NFL Draft No. 1 overall pick.

Lastly, bet365 Sportsbook has ample promotions for existing players, including sports-specific offers. These can include early payouts, parlay bonuses, and more.

Features: Cash Out, Live Betting, Same Game Parlays, and Online Casino in select states.

NFL Betting Apps: iOS and Android

New players at BetMGM Sportsbook will have access to $158 in bonus bets when making an initial wager of at least $5. Your first wager determines the bonus bet and if it results in a loss.

Where BetMGM stands out among the rest is parlays. There are two notable tools at your disposal that help with parlays. Easy Parlay and premade Same Game Parlay betting options.

Easy Parlay is a page that lists every game and the moneyline, point spread, and total wagers. This is made to make identifying which contests you want to add to a parlay much easier.

The premade Same Game Parlay options are beneficial because you’ll have multiple combinations to assess, and you can choose one of those or build your own.

If you want to take a break from the NFL, you can also do this on college football as BetMGM is one of the best NCAAF betting sites on the market today as well.

Features: Cash Out, Live Betting, Sports Betting Guide, Same Game Parlays, Online Casino in select states, Easy Parlay, Live Streaming, Premade Same Game Parlay options.

Promotions and Bonuses Found at NFL Betting Sites

We’ve discussed a few NFL betting sites’ welcome bonuses above, but here, we’ll go over the various types of promotions you may find. This guide lets you be familiar with them beforehand so you can utilize them properly when they become available for NFL betting.

  • Deposit Match

You’ll be given parameters such as “100% up to $1,000.” When you see this, this means your first deposit is matched at a 100% rate and up to $1,000.

So, if you deposit $100, you’ll get $100 in bonus funds. The bonus funds you receive cannot be withdrawn and will have wagering requirements dictating how much money you must wager in cash to withdraw.

  • Bonus Bets

Bonus bets are given to you in various ways, but following your first wager loss is the most popular. Using BetMGM as an example, you’ll get a bonus bet of up to $1,000.

If you deposit, wager $800 on the San Francisco 49ers moneyline, and lose, you’ll receive $800 in bonus bets. Alternatively, you can receive them after wagering a certain amount of money.

  • Bet & Get Offers

As the name states, you’ll get a certain amount in bonus funds after betting. FanDuel, DraftKings, and bet365 all have this, as you need to wager a certain amount of money, and you’ll receive bonus bets.

  • Parlay Insurance

This typically applies to parlays in which you lose due to just one leg failing to succeed. So, if you have a three-leg parlay and two games win, you’d receive a certain amount back in bonus bets to compensate you.

  • Odds Boosts

You’ll receive enhanced odds on a contest beyond what they’re initially posted for.

  • Referral Program:

These are different from NFL betting site to NFL betting site, but you’ll usually receive bonus funds after you first create an account, deposit, and wager a certain amount.

  • Rewards Programs

You’ll receive some currency or reward points that can be redeemed for prizes, sometimes including bonus bets.

  • Profit Boost

You can use a boost on a specific game to enhance the payout on a successful bet.

How to Bet on Football Games Online

If you’ve never bet before or are still reasonably new, learning all the terminologies and how the site works can be overwhelming. Below, we’ve created a guide for how to bet on the NFL.

After reading the guide below, you’ll understand the NFL betting site markets, types, and odds and pick up some strategies to use moving forward.

NFL Betting Websites: Markets, Types, and Odds

When betting on the NFL, you will quickly find numerous betting markets available. To prepare you for these, we’ll review each below and provide examples.

Moneyline Bets

The moneyline wager is the most straightforward in all of NFL betting. It’s also considered one of the best NFL bets for new players. Each team will be assigned betting odds, and you’ll pick which team you think wins the game outright.

There are two types of NFL odds, “-” and “+.” The “-” odds indicate the favored team, while the underdog receives “+” odds.

For example, the San Francisco 49ers are playing the Baltimore Ravens. The 49ers are -135, and the Ravens are +110. To determine how much money you’d make, let’s use $100 as an example.

For the 49ers, you’d need to wager $135 to win $100; if you bet $100 on the Ravens and won, you’d get $110.

The “-” odds and the associated number are how much you need to wager to win $100. For “+” odds, the number associated is how much you’d win on a $100 wager.

Point Spread Bets

In the NFL, there are 30 teams. Some are simply going to be better than others. The point spread is designed to alleviate that power gap by creating a handicap.

Using the 49ers and Ravens as an example again, if the 49ers were -2.5, the Ravens would be +2.5. Each team has the same number on the point spread, distinguishing between “-” and “+.”

If the final score were the 49ers winning 22-20, they’d lose on a point spread wager because they were -2.5. Thus, after assessing the point spread, they’d “lose” 20-19.5.

For point spread wagers, since the goal is to make teams equal, the odds for each team are typically at or around -110.

Totals Bets

Totals is an NFL gambling market in which you’ll wager on a game’s combined number of points.

There are two bets available, over and under. If the line is 45.5, using the final score above 22-20, this will fall short; thus, an “under” wager would be successful.

These also come with -110 odds, or thereabouts, for both the over and under wagers.

Prop Bets

With NFL betting, you’ll run into three types of props—game, team, and player.

Of these three, player props are the most popular, as you’ll be betting on the statistical performance of an individual player.

Game props and team props can also bring value. Common bets include a total number of punts (game) and an individual team’s over/under (team).

Using these examples, they’re all like totals in that you’ll bet the over or the under.

Parlay Bets

Parlays allow you to add multiple contests to the same betslip.

If you bet on three games with odds of -205, +145, and -190, the combined parlay odds would be +456.

The odds are determined based on the individual odds, the number of legs added, and the variation between favored and underdog teams.

For parlays to win, all legs need to win. So, if only two of three games win, it’s still a loss.

This is the same concept for Same Game Parlays; only you’ll focus on things within one game, such as the point spread, totals, and a player prop.

Future Bets

Futures markets present a lot of value for NFL betting, but they could result in you tying up your money for months.

Popular examples of futures bets include Super Bowl, Division, and Conference winners, but there are many others.

Generally, each team of players listed has odds associated with them, and you’ll decide whether to bet on them.

For example, futures markets are available for the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs at +600, Philadelphia Eagles at +800, and 49ers at +900.

NFL Betting Sites: Strategies and Tips

While we cannot guarantee wins on any wagers, we can certainly provide tips and strategies for you to deploy when betting to set you up for the most success possible.

Below are five strategies you can use on your next NFL bet to ensure a better experience.

Create a Budget

When you go into NFL betting, make sure you plan how much you want to spend on playing.

For example, if you deposit $100, we’d recommend each wager not exceed $10. This allows you to distribute your wagers across multiple contests, enabling more longevity in playing.

Live Betting Hedging

If you bet $100 on a game before it starts at +155 and notice that the other team is pulling ahead but still has -110 odds, you could wager $133.57 on them.

If they win, you have a hedge profit of $21.43 after wagering a total of $233.57.

Watch Games During Live Betting

This is a relatively simple tip, but if you’re live betting on football, you must watch the game to maximize your chances of success.

The NFL isn’t a sport where you can rely on the success of one player, and seeing how each team is performing can help explain some statistics and illustrate if a team is trending in a positive or negative direction.

Odds Shopping

If you’re in a state with multiple online sportsbooks, we highly recommend deciding on what you want to bet on and looking at all available NFL sportsbooks to see which offers the best odds.

This will require research but will net you more profit on a successful wager if you find better odds elsewhere.

Understanding Betting Lines Impact on Point Spread/Totals

As mentioned above, the odds on point spreads, and totals are always at or around -110 when discussing the markets. However, when the odds go away, this can signal a potential change in the market.

For example, if a team is +5.5 and they’re -120, this could mean they’ll be changing to +5 since the -120 shows that it’s receiving more betting action, thus giving worse odds than -110.

If you can track these, you can potentially find a point of half of a point in value on these markets.

NFL Betting Rules

Regarding betting on the NFL and its rules, it’s pretty straightforward—you must be located in a legal NFL sports betting state to log in and make real money wagers.

From there, each sportsbook may have rules regarding minimum wagers, canceled events, and minimum age.

Typically, you’ll find that minimum wagers are about $0.10. If a game is canceled, the bet you made will be voided, and the minimum age in most states to bet on games is 21.

Understanding the NFL Betting Season Structure

Now that we’ve gone over the NFL betting markets, let’s look at the season’s structure and the events you can bet on.

  • NFL Preseason

You can bet on preseason games. These games run throughout August, leading up to the launch of the regular season.

  • NFL Regular Season

The NFL has 17 games in the regular season but 18 weeks in total. The extra week accounts for a bye week, which gives each team a break scattered throughout the season.

  • NFL Playoffs

After the regular season, the playoffs begin. There are two conferences in the NFL, the AFC and the NFC, and seven teams will be chosen from each.

The seedings are based on the top team in the conference by the record, division winners with the best records, and two wild card teams.

The No. 1 seed receives a bye week and plays the lowest seed of whoever wins the Wild Card Round. The postseason consists of three rounds leading up to the Super Bowl.

  • NFL Wild Card Round

This is the first round of the NFL Playoffs. The No. 1 seed doesn’t play here, but the following seeds play one another: 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5.

The No. 1 seed plays the lowest winning seed from this round in the Divisional Round.

  • NFL Divisional Round

There are just two games left in each conference, and the winners here decide who will play in the Conference Championship.

  • NFL Conference Championship

The Conference Championship consists of the two winning teams from the divisional round.

  • NFL Super Bowl

Happening on the first Sunday in February, the NFL Super Bowl consists of the winner of the AFC Conference Championship and NFC Conference Championship.

  • NFL Draft

A popular futures betting market, you can bet on players getting drafted into the NFL, including the No. 1 overall pick, where each player will get drafted, the total number of players from a specific college conference, and much more.

Betting on the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the championship game in the NFL that takes place on the first Sunday in February of the following year the season begins.

So, if the season begins in September 2023, the Super Bowl for that season will be played in February 2024.

This game consists of the winners of the AFC and NFC Championship games. There’s a one-week gap between the Conference Championship and the Super Bowl to allow the teams to rest and the Pro Bowl.

Betting on the Super Bowl is like any other NFL game. Still, sportsbooks nationwide will offer more promotions, props, and other benefits to enhance the experience.

This is perhaps the biggest sports betting day of the year in the United States.
