Holders Chile face Uruguay in the final group game of this year’s Copa America Tournament in Brazil on Monday night.

Chile beat Japan 4-0 in their opening group game, thanks to an Edu Vargas double, and goals from Alexis Sanchez and Eric Pulgar – they play Ecuador on Friday night in their second match of the group stage. Chile warmed up for this competition with a 1-1 draw with the United States and a 2-1 win over Haiti.

Uruguay also beat 10-man Ecuador 4-0 in their opening game in this year’s Copa America tournament, and play Japan in their second match before finishing up the group stage with this game with holders Chile in the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro. The Uruguayans warm up match before heading to Brazil was 3-0 friendly win over Panama.

Chile have won this competition back to back in the previous two editions and come into this one off the back of a run of three wins in their last nine matches, before playing Japan in the opening fixture. La Roja failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, finishing in sixth place behind Peru on goal difference.

Uruguay went out during the group stage of the last edition of the Copa America. Finishing behind Mexico, and Venezuela, but ahead of Jamaica. The Celeste lost out at the quarter-final stage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, losing 2-0 to eventual winners France. With two evenly-matched teams, a 2-2 draw is well worth a shout.
