Tip – Canada scored with 0.4 seconds left on the clock against Switzerland to send their quarter-final matchup to overtime. The Canadians came out on top in the extra period and forced their way into the semi-final where they will take on the Czech Republic. While the Czechs deserve a ton of credit for reaching the semi-final, they will be in tough against a Canadian side who have demonstrated they are more than capable of overcoming adversity and have now won seven consecutive games. Expect Canada to keep the good times rolling against the Czech Republic as they get back to the final for the first time since 2016 where they beat Finland for the Gold medal.

Tip – Russia is the real deal and have proven that ever since touching down in Slovakia. After going undefeated in the preliminary round, they demonstrated once again why they are the gold medal favourites by knocking off the Americans in the quarterfinals. There doesn’t seem to be a country on the planet capable of taking down this Russian side and unfortunately for Finland they are next. While Finland deserves a ton of credit for reaching the semi-final and upsetting the back-to-back IIHF World Champions Sweden, Alexander Ovechkin and company will be too much to handle for them.

As strong as Canada is, they still have plenty of holes in their roster which will likely be exposed against a dominant Russian side. Canada should have no issues reaching the final but take Russia to win the ultimate prize on all your favourite bookmakers. The Russians haven’t won gold at the IIHF World Hockey Championship since 2004 and are determined to end the drought in 2019. Look for Russia to get past a Canada in a dream final on all relevant betting sites.
