Auburn shocked the basketball world on Friday night, and they will look to keep the fairy-tale run going against the second seeded Kentucky Wildcats.

Auburn, a five-point underdog, demolished the top seeded Tar heels on Friday, on their way to a 17-point route of UNC, and collecting possibly the greatest victory in school history. The Tigers must put their emotional victory to the side, and be even keel come tipoff on Sunday, a difficult thing in the sports world.

Auburn is undefeated since February 23rd, going 11-0 SU and 8-3 ATS during that span. The loss on February 23rd you ask? A 27-point shellacking at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats. That Kentucky victory was actually the second for the Wildcats over the Tigers this season. In both contests UK shot 54 percent from the field, while Auburn managed a meagre 39% shooting average over the two games.

PJ Washington has been a thriving force for Kentucky throughout the season, scoring 33 points in his last game vs. Auburn. Washington’s heroics were on full display during the Sweet 16, as the sophomore forward chipped in with 16 points and a game changing block, all on a hobbled left foot.

Washington is morphing into a Tigers killer. Auburn has not had an answer to him all season. On top of Washington’s stellar play is the fact that history is on Kentucky’s side. KU has been to the Elite Eight 12 times since 1996, and advanced to the next round seven of those times. Contrastingly, this is Auburn’s first Elite Eight in school history. Kentucky’s been here, and they know how to handle the moment, while Auburn will be reeling with emotions after their huge Sweet 16 victory.

Score prediction: Kentucky wins 74-71
