Sheffield Shield Match 6 Squad Comparison

Western Australia

It was a tame draw in the end for Mitchell Marsh’s side in the last game against Tasmania. They batted well in both the innings and even their bowlers looked good during the game but the nature of the track prevented a result in the game with there being little for the bowlers. The side would now like to get its first win for the season against Victoria. Marsh would know that his side would face a stiff challenge in the next game as they would be playing against one of the best sides of the tournament and hope his players are able to make the best use of home advantage and win the game.

Openers Sam Whiteman and Cameron Bancroft struggled in the last game and they would need to provide a good start to the team. The middle-order comprising of Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis played well in the last game and they would have to continue with the same form in the upcoming game. With Josh Philippe and Josh Inglis in the lower middle-order batting looks good for the side. Jhye Richardson bowled well in the last game and so did Cameroon Green on a wicket that offered little assistance to the bowlers. Jason Behrendroff is likely to come in for the next game and add strength to the bowling. Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis and Aston Agar will have to pick early wickets for the side to win.

Victoria

Last year’s champions Peter Handscomb’s side started the season with a draw against South Australia. The skipper would have been slightly upset with the performance of his bowlers in the game as they failed to apply pressure on the South Australia batsmen in the last game after having dismissed their top order cheaply. He would like to take the positives from the last game where their batting line-up looked formidable. His opponents Western Australia also did well in the last game and playing in the opponent’s backyard his side will need to put up a good show in the next game.

Nic Maddinson looked in brilliant form in the last game slamming a double hundred and would carry that confidence into the next game. Marcus Harris and Will Pucovski also scored centuries and make the top 3 look formidable. Handscomb, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell had good hits in the last game and this makes the batting line-up look strong for the side. It was a bad outing for the bowlers in the last game and they would look to improve upon their performance. James Pattinson and Chris Tremain shall need to pick early wickets in the game and look for good support from the likes of Maxwell, Scott Boland and Jon Holland in the game.

Our Prediction for Western Australia vs Victoria

Victoria shall win the game

Western Australia shall take on Victoria at their home ground Perth in the next game of Sheffield Shield 2019-20. Both sides come here having drawn their first game and would be looking for a win to go up on the points table. Their performance in the opening game was identical where their batsmen did well but the bowlers failed to exploit the situation. Victoria has a strong batting unit while Western Australia would like to make most out of its home advantage. It promises to be a good game in the lively pitch at Perth.

It is neck and neck between the two sides at the moment but Victoria’s batting looks better and gives them a slight edge going into this game.
