Sheffield Shield Match No15 Teams Comparison
After having had a poor season last year the side has been led well by Mitchell Marsh this season. Apart from their loss in the opening game of the season against Victoria the team has looked in good shape. They won convincingly against Tasmania before drawing against Queensland. They come to this game after their impressive win against South Australia. Mitchell Marsh would be proud of the way his team has played so far as there have been contributions from the core players in almost every match. They are currently No. 2 in the points table and would like to press for a win in the upcoming game and seal their position for rest of the season.
The opening combination of Josh Philippe and Jonathan Wells has given the team some worries especially the form of Wells. But it has been the middle order which has rescued the side in almost all games. William Bosisto and Hilton Cartwright have been in great form. The side is likely to miss Shaun Marsh who is on national duty but others including skipper Mitchell have looked in good touch with the bat so far. The bowlers have also done well with Cameroon Green and Jhye Richardson looking in great shape. Matthew Kelly has also bowled well and so has Usman Qadir. They would feel confident about their bowling attack going into this game.
New South Wales
For New South Wales the most successful team in Sheffield Shield history last few seasons have unmemorable. They had finished fifth last season but under Peter Nevill they are doing relatively well this season. They started with a draw against South Australia before suffering a defeat against Victoria. What followed was a draw against Tasmania and then wonderful win again Queensland. Nevill would like his side to carry the momentum of the previous game into the next as this will lay the perfect platform for the rest of the season. A loss here would hurt their chances of progress for the finals and something the skipper would like to avoid at all costs.
Openers Daniel Hughes and Nick Larkin have been in good form this season with both of them having had a hundred already. At No. 3 Kurtis Patterson has also looked good and so have Moises Henriques and Jason Sangha in the middle order. If there is good contributions for the skipper Nevil and Jack Edwards the side should do well bowling. They are likely to miss Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood but the attack looks good in the hands of Pat Cummins and Sean Abbot. If Nathan Lyon turns up for the game they have the right balance in the attack to take on their opponents.
Our Prediction for Western Australia vs New South Wales
New South Wales will win the game
The contest between the Western Australia and New South Wales at Perth would be one of the most important contests for the sides. They find themselves sitting on No. 3 and 4 respectively on the points table and nearly half of the season gone it is the right time to press the accelerator and go up and secure a place the finals. The form and performance of both the sides have been at par so far in the season which makes it an interesting contest. Both these sides have a quality mix of players and would like to finish with a win at Perth.
They are both evenly matched sides but by the virtue of having a better bowling attack New South Wales would be nose ahead of Western Australia going into this game.
