Jason Holder missing out the next game owing to ban imposed by ICC due to slow over rate definitely comes as a huge blow for the side. He has been an inspirational leader who has led his side to a historic series win. Kraigg Brathwaite would lead the side in his absence in the next game. And there is perhaps no better time to assume leadership of the side after the kind of form they have displayed in the first two games of the series. Brathwaite knows that England is in a spot of bother and would be hoping to add to their misery in the next game.
In John Campbell the West Indian side have perhaps found the ideal opening partner for Kraigg Brathwaite. Both of them played well in the last game. Shai Hope and Darren Bravo are looking in great form and so is Shane Dowrich. But the side would definitely miss the services of Holder in the lower middle order. Roston Chase and Shimron Hetmyer can also serve headache to the English attack. The bowlers have been in murderous form this series Kemar Roach in particular. Shannon Gabriel is also troubling the English line-up. Alzarri Joseph’s lion hearted appearances in the last game would have made him a hero in the Caribbean. The team would count on its bowlers to win them the third game and the series.
Joe Root perhaps has no answers to the kind of mess his side is in at the moment. While they would have expected West Indies to be competitive given the history and the rivalry the two sides share he surely wouldn’t have expected to stare at a White-Wash or a ‘Black Wash’ as the Caribbean prefer calling after the second Test Match. His side hasn’t shown the hunger to fight in the two games that have been played so far and having lost the series it would be a game to restore some of their lost pride and show the kind of talent that the side has.
The new opening combination of Rory Burns and Joe Denly didn’t change the fortunes for the side in the last game and they would need to make up for their poor performances in the next game. Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes make a solid middle order but none of these guys have been able to play those long innings and would like to do so in the next game. Moeen Ali, Ben Foakes and Sam Curran add depth to the batting order and did well in the last game. James Anderson and Stuart Broad bowled well in the last game and so did Moeen Ali. But they weren’t able to derive the same kind of bargain out of the wicket like the West Indian bowlers did and this has been the same story in both the games so far. They need to improve their bowling to win the next game.
Our Prediction for West Indies vs England, 3rd Test
England would win the 3rd Test Match
Few people would have expected the West Indian side to be 2-0 in the series after the end of two Test Matches. But they have humbled the mighty English side and won the Wisden Trophy. The English side has looked in complete mess in the two games so far where all the main batsmen seems to have no clue in playing the relentless attack from their opponents. Holder being out of the game West Indies would surely feel a lesser unit given the kind of leadership that Holder has shown over the years. It would be interesting to see if the English side manages to win the upcoming game or ends up with 0-3 series defeat.
From a cricket betting
logic, England have so far performed below expectation in the two games but they have a strong team and shall start slightly ahead of West Indies
