Betting Tips

  • West Indies are among the best T20 side in the world and they showed they are miles ahead of Bangladesh in the first game.
  • Bangladesh walk into this game with losses in 7 of their 9 previous encounters this year in this format
  • West Indies have previously won all their three encounters in ground versus India and New Zealand and this is a happy hunting ground for them.

Our Prediction: West Indies will win this game

As we move to the last leg of Bangladesh’s tour of the West Indies the game moves to US mainland to the city of Florida which has sizable South Asian community. So far it has been one of Bangladesh’s most promising tours outside the sub-continent. Although they lost the 2-Match Test Series comprehensively they came back to win the 3-Match ODI series 2-1 which could have been 3-0 if they hadn’t fumbled in the second game. T20 is a different ball game all together and West Indies are the reigning world champions which they proved in the opening game comfortably winning by 7 wickets. They paced their innings well in a rain affected contest reduced to 11 overs for West Indian innings when they came out to chase.

West Indies vs Bangladesh T20Bangladesh’s biggest strength is also their greatest weakness. They are completely dependent on Tamim Iqbal to give them a great start. When he fires the team usually wins and in the last T20i he got out for nought and this resulted in Bangladesh’s modest total of 143 in the game. Their top order has been regularly failing in the format since the start of the year and apart from Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah most of the batsmen are looking out of sorts over the last six months. This has meant failing to chase targets and putting up a high score for their bowlers to defend.

Also worrying for Bangladesh has been their bowling attack which looks ordinary when the conditions don’t assist the spinners. This was vindicated in the first game when the spinners hardly posed any threats to West Indies’ settled batting line-up with both Shakib and Nazmul Islam taking a beating in their quota of overs. Mustafizur Rahman has looked the only bowler who can create doubts in the minds of the batsmen but the home side are likely to play out his four overs without taking much of risk and target the other bowlers. All these taken into consideration and the kind of form they are in Bangladesh would have to play out of their skins or hope the West Indian team to make mistakes if they are to win the second T20i.

West Indies

Given the slide West Indian cricket has seen over the last two decades T20s are seen as a ray of hope that would help cricket flourish in the Caribbean again. A team that looks pretty ordinary in Tests and ODIs suddenly turns into an unbeatable giant in the 20 over game. Their performance in the first T20i just proved they are such a powerhouse in this format. Even though they are missing services of some of their best T20 players their bench strength looks phenomenal. Andre Russell and Marlon Samuels had a great day in the previous match especially Russell who hammered the visitor’s attack. The team would expect a better start from openers Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis in this game.

Turning over to the bowling department here too the West Indies have the edge over their rivals with every bowler other than Samuel Badree having had a good outing. Kesrick Williams was impressive in his four overs where he picked up 4 wickets. Skipper Carlos Brathwaite bowled a tight line and he would expect a repeat performance from his bowlers in this game too. The attack looks balanced and if the conditions in Florida offer a hint of moment in the air or off the pitch we expect the West Indian attack to humble the Bangladeshis.

In terms of form and team composition West Indies are ahead of Bangladesh and likely to win this contest. They would need to have a bad day for the visitors to turnaround this time and stay alive in the 3-Match series.
