Prediction Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
Trinbago Knight Riders will win this game
It is two more games to go for the season wrap up of Caribbean Premier League 2018. Guyana Amazon Warriors have already earned their place in the final and now in the penultimate game of the season last season’s winners Trinbago Knight Riders will take on last year’s runner-up St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in a do or die Qualifier to earn a spot in the final. Both the teams have played good cricket over the last month and they wouldn’t like to drop their guard going into this important game. The crowd at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad would stand behind the home side TKR and outshout Patriots’ fans. The script is set for a thrilling encounter.
Trinbago Knight Riders
What a campaign Dwayne Bravo and his men have had this season. In the league stage they topped the table with 7 wins in 10 games but had a bad day in the office during their Qualifier game against Guyana Amazon Warriors. But Bravo would have been impressed with the performance of his bowlers in that game where they took the game to the penultimate ball of the game after having set a small target of 123 runs for the opponents. There is only one word to describe their performance this season – clinical. They were last year’s title winners and would look to qualify for the finals and add one more to their kitty.
Colin Munroe has been the top scorer this season with 470 runs and 5 half centuries. The skipper would count on him for the perfect start from him alongside Brendon McCullum. Sunil Naraine has failed with the bat and it would be interesting to see if he opens the batting in this game. Denesh Ramdin has had good knocks in the middle and with Darren and Dwayne Bravo in the lower middle order the team has perfect finishers. As far as their bowling goes Fawad Ahmed and Dwayne Bravo would be the mainstays of the attack along with Sunil Narine and Ali Khan. They bowled a tight spell in the last game and the skipper would expect to see a repeat in this game.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
It has been an incredible campaign for Chris Gayle and his team. While they didn’t have the best of starts in the tournament the team has showed fighting spirit and resilience when pushed against the wall. The side has struggled to retain its form but have come good in the last few games. Their performance against Jamaica Tallawahs in the Eliminator game was a perfect example of that where everybody in the team contributed as they chased down a huge total in the last over of the match. In the league stage they won one and lost one against the Trinbago Knight Riders and they would be looking to emerge as winners in the upcoming game.
The batting for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots looks pretty strong with Chris Gayle being in good form this season. Wicketkeeper Devon Thomas has been steady throughout the season and with Rassie van der Dussen, Anton Devcich, Fabian Allen and Brandon King in the middle order the team has a decent batting line-up where Carlos Brathwaite is playing the perfect finisher’s role. As far as bowling is concerned Sheldon Cottrell and Ben Cutting have been good this season and so has Carlos Brathwaite. While the other bowlers have conceded lots of runs so far Gayle would hope that along with the top three bowlers they would do the job perfectly in this game.
Both the teams are strong to have reached this stage of the tournament but Trinbago Knight Riders with its overall record against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will start as favourites in this game.
