Tottenham 1 – 0 Brighton
Tottenham look to consolidate their Champions League qualification spot with a win over Chris Hughton’s struggling Brighton.
Tottenham had looked to be part of the top three rather than the chasing pack but a few important injuries and some poor games and suddenly they are as desperate for the points as anyone. With Harry Kane still unavailable, Spurs supposedly have a lot less attacking options but they should still be able to see off Brighton, providing their epic battle with Manchester City hasn’t left Mauricio Pochettino’s squad too drained.
The defeat at home to Cardiff really dragged Brighton into the relegation battle – and their remaining fixtures do not make it easier for the Seagulls to stay up. With Arsenal and Manchester City still to play it may be that Chris Hughton depends on results from other games for his club’s top flight survival.
Some sports betting sites had started to look at Kane as a potential golden boot winner – even with the likes of Aguero, Salah and Aubameyang ahead of him. That doesn’t look like it will happen now, but Son has stepped up heroically as a goal threat and he may be the one to open the Brighton defence here.
The bookies still fancy Cardiff to go down but it is going to be very close for Brighton at the end of the season. Although their manager would love at least a point from their visit to the new Spurs ground it seems very unlikely that his wish will be granted. Tottenham could win this 3-0.
Tottenham to win to nil
Spurs have been able to find the net regularly even without Harry Kane and should win this convincingly.
Heung-Min Son to score at any time
Tottenham’s South Korea striker had been scoring even when Kane was fit but Son has really stepped up in his absence.

Head to Head
Tottenham have enjoyed the lion’s share of the victories between these two and won 2-1 at the Amex earlier in the season – with only an Anthony Knockaert goal in the last minute for Brighton to take as a consolation.
- Heung-Min Son missed a chunk of the season through international duty and is still Tottenham’s second highest goal scorer.
- A major problem for Brighton this season has been their inability to score regularly. No-one outside the bottom three has scored as few goals as the Seagulls.
- Other defensive units have been praised this season but only Liverpool and Manchester City have conceded fewer goals in the Premier League than Tottenham.
- Brighton have only won three games in the league away from the Amex this season.
