CPL Match 28 Squad Comparison

Trinbago Knight Riders

Trinbago Knight Riders have lost their last 2 consecutive matches. In their last match against Guyana at Trinidad, the Knight Riders lost by 19 runs chasing a target of 186. Previously, playing against Barbados Tridents at Barbados, TKR were bowled out for 129 chasing 193 runs. Kieron Pollard’s 71 off 38 balls inning in the last match helped the Knight Riders stay alive in the chase. Darren Bravo on the other hands unbeaten on 58 off 46 balls.

However, the failure of the top 3 batsmen including Lendl Simmons, Mark Deyal and Colin Munro to get TKR off to a flying start added pressure on the middle order. Ali Khan and Khary Pierre picked 1 wicket each for TKR bowling first. While Javon Searles was top bowler for TKR with 3 wickets, he was the most expensive bowler. Trinbago Knight Riders have lost the plot after a great start to the season. While the bowling was never their forte, their top order has lost their touch and seem inconsistent. They could bounce back if Lendl Simmons and Colin Munro step up and play a big inning. However, batting first and putting up a big total wouldn’t suffice as their bowling has been expensive.

Barbados Tridents

Barbados Tridents are in good form winning 2 of their last 3 matches in CPL 2019. The match against SNP at home venue was a close encounter as BT lost by 1 run. The bowlers are in tremendous form as they successfully defended 141 runs in the last match against St Lucia Zouks. Hayden Walsh was the top team bowler with 4 for 26 while Harry Gurney picked 3 for 17 in 4 overs. BT bowled out the SLZ for 117 runs winning the match by 24 runs courtesy of their accurate bowling attack.

While Johnson Charles bounced back after the loss and scored 47 off 36 balls in the last match, Alex Hales seems to be struggling. Hales has played at different positions in the batting order and hasn’t been a consistent performer for BT. Shakib AL Hasan and JP Duminy are experienced batsmen at number 3 and 4 and would be crucial for Barbados Tridents going into this match. Jonathan Carter has been batting at number 5 lately, though he has better figures opening for BT. Jason Holder batting at number 6 adds depth to the Tridents batting order. However, the consistent failure of the top order makes it tough on the lower order to score runs every single time.

Our Prediction for TKR vs BT

Barbados Tridents are favourites to win the match

While betting sites in India show Trinbago Knight Riders as the clear favourite to win the match, Barbados Tridents has a much stronger bowling attack. BT has consistently delivered good bowling performances and have revelry defended a low total of 141. On the other hand, TKR has failed to restrict the opposition to low total and the batting form has taken a dip recently for the Knight Riders.
