Sheffield Shield Match 13th Teams Comparison

George Bailey’s team hasn’t had the best of starts to the season. As runners-up last season and having seasoned campaigners in the team the season hasn’t gone well for them so far. While they started on the right note winning their first game against Queensland but since then it has had a bad run. They lost by huge margin against Western Australia and Victoria. Even in the game against New South Wales they barely managed a draw. Sitting fourth in the points table Bailey would want his side to win the upcoming home game against South Australia and move up in the points table.

Openers Jordan Silk and Alex Doolan have been in good form this season especially Doolan who has already scored 444 runs in four games. Beau Webster hasn’t had the best of seasons and same goes for Jack Doran. Mathew Wade is making his international experience count. But the greatest concern for the side is the form of skipper Bailey who has scored mere 45 runs in 8 innings. On the bowling front it has so far been a great season for Jackson Bird and Gabe Bell with the new ball. But others have struggled with Thomas Rogers and Riley Meredith struggling to find their form with the ball. They need to support the new ball bowlers for the side to win the next game.

South Australia

Travis Head’s South Australians are yet to win a game this season. They had finished at the bottom of the points table last season and haven’t done enough to change that this season. With 9 points after four games they desperately need to win the upcoming game to keep their hopes alive in the season. After drawing their first three games against New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria they lost the last one against Western Australia. Head would need to inspire his team’s confidence to win the upcoming game.

It is the form of the openers Jake Weatherald and Conor McInerney that has been a worry for the side as they have failed to convert their starts into big scores. Callum Ferguson too has struggled in the three games he has played. The side has depended on middle order batsmen Tom Cooper and Jake Lehmann in this season and others will need to share the mantle while batting for the side to do well. In the bowling department Joe Mennie has been in great form with 21 wickets this season and has been well supported by Chadd Sayers. Daniel Worrall bowled splendidly in the last game and he would look to continue with the same rhythm.

Our Prediction for Tasmania vs South Australia

Tasmania will win the game

The competition in Sheffield Shield 2018-19 is heating up and it is now or never for the Tasmania and South Australia as they face each other in the 13th game of the season at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Both the sides have struggled in the season so far and find themselves sitting in fourth and fifth spot in the points table. The upcoming game would be a very important one for both the sides as it may decide their further progress in the season. With lots to play for neither of the teams would want to yield space to the opponents and come out victorious at the end of the game.

Tasmania has shown better performances compared to South Australia this season and they would start nose ahead of the latter in the upcoming game.
