Big Bash 17th Match Squad Comparison
It has been mixed bag of results for Shane Watson and his boys. The skipper has led the team from the front but they have failed to be consistent. They started on the right note defeating Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers but suddenly seem to have lost their momentum with back to back losses against Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers. If this poor form continues it would be extremely difficult for the side to rise on the points table. Knowing the importance of the next game and also the opportunity of playing a slightly out of form Scorchers he would want his team to win the contest at all cost.
Jos Buttler has been in incredible form and so has Shane Watson opening the batting and they are the mainstays for the side. Callum Ferguson has also played brilliantly and with Joe Root in the batting order followed by Jason Sangha and Daniel Sams they pack quite the punch. Batting has been good for the side this season and it is the bowlers who have let the side down in the last two losses. Chris Green has been bowling well and Daniel Sams as well. But Fawad Ahmed’s poor form in the last couple of games is affecting the side. Jonathan Cook also needs to do well with the new ball for the side to win the upcoming game.
Ashton Turner’s team is struggling at the moment. In four games that they have played so far the side has won only once against Adelaide Strikers. They have lost badly in the other three games against Melbourne Renegades, Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes. Their batsmen are failing to create the kind of pressure that the skipper would expect from the side. The top players in the side have failed to deliver much to the captain’s disappoint. Turner knows the importance of the next game against Sydney Thunder and a loss here might make it extremely difficult for them to make it to the play-offs.
Michael Klinger has been in good form this season but the Scrochers need to stop experimenting with the opening pair with their third combination for the season involving William Bosisto failing as well. In the middle order the story hasn’t been different either with Ashton Turner being in bad form and come-back man Cameron Bancroft also not troubling scorers much. The side needs to gets its batting order right to compete against opponents. Bowlers have done better but Andrew Tye’s poor run is affecting the side. Jason Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson and Nathan Coulter-Nile have to pick wickets and slow down the scoring rates for the side to win the upcoming game.
