Big Bash Match 5th Squad Comparison
Moises Henriques would be looking forward to this home game and would like to start it on a winning note. The last season wasn’t great for the side where they struggled to make it to the play-offs. But they have a talented unit this time around and a quality mix of players who would complement each other. Henriques would know the poor record his side has against the Scorchers especially in their home ground the SCG. He would like his men to start confidently in the upcoming game and set the records straight.
Joe Denly and Daniel Hughes make a good opening pair for the side. They did well last season and would be looking forward to giving their side good start in the upcoming game. Moises Henriques, Josh Philippe and Jack Edwards make a good middle order and they have the ability to clear the ropes easily which would be on test at the large SCG. As far as their bowling goes Sean Abbott and Tom Curran make a great new ball pair. They would also count on the likes of Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O’Keefe and Mickey Edwards to put pressure on the opponents.
Mitchell Marsh would be terribly upset with the way his side batted in their first game of the season against Melbourne Renegades. Losing half the side by the 10th over is the last thing anybody wants in a T20 contest. The batters looked scratchy in the first game and there were uncertainties in their shot selection. Marsh would however be happy with the way his bowlers fought back and nearly pulled off an impossible win with good aggressive bowling. There is little time for the team to recoup and they would hope to put up a better show at the SCG when they take on the hosts in the next game.
Michael Klinger looked good in the opening slot but his partner Sam Whiteman need to put a price on his wicket for the next game. The middle order of David Willey, Marsh, Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar fell cheaply in the last game and they would need to put up good scores in the next for the side to do well. Hilton Cartwright looked good in the lower middle order and will hope to repeat his performance. The bowlers impressed in the last game with Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Ashton Agar bowling well but their main bowler Andrew Tye was off the mark and if he hits form they will have a great bowling attack in the next game.
Our Prediction for Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers will win this game
It’s the second game for the season for the Perth Scorchers in Big Bash 2018-19 and one that they will have to win after their loss in the opening encounter. They fought hard to defend a low total but it wasn’t enough in the end. For Sixers who didn’t have the best of result last season it would be a great opportunity to set the balls rolling in front of their home crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Both the sides have good talent and they would like to come out winning in what should be an exciting T20 contest.
There is little to choose between the two teams but Perth Scorchers thanks to their overall dominance over the Sydney Sixers in the past will start ahead in the upcoming game.
