Our Prediction St Kitts and Nevis vs Guyana:
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will win this game
The final leg of the group stages in the Caribbean Premier League 2018 and it is time the Points Table is already giving us some hit of the table toppers. It in sin such context that this game between Chris Gayle led St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors led by Shoaib Malik assumes significance. The two sides find themselves at 3 and 4 on the points table with 6 points each and the outcomes of this game would decide their standing in the tournament. Both sides have the firepower to progress further in the tournament and it would be a close contest at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Shoaib Malik’s team started the tournament on a high with back to back wins against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Stars. The team which doesn’t have the firepower you would expect from today’s T20 side looked a balanced unit with a strong bowling line-up. Since their loss against Barbados Tridents in the third game the side has been showing on and off performances. One day they look unbeatable while in the very next game they throw away the game. This has left the skipper in a spot of bother. There has been lack of consistency and this has proved to be their biggest weakness.
Shimron Hetmyer has looked in great form with a hundred and fifty so far this season. But openers Chadwick Walton and wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi have been indifferent so far and they are failing to repeat strong performances in every game. Sherfane Rutherford and Sohaib Malik are doing well in the middle order but it is the lower middle order which is letting the team down with none of the players having had good hits so far. The bowling looks strong for Warriors Sohail Tanvir, Veerasammy Permaul and Imran Tahir so far in the tournament. Chris Green has also show sparks of brilliance in some matches and they would rely on their bowling to win the game for them.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
For Chris Gayle and his men it wasn’t the most auspicious start to the tournament as they went down against Warriors in the first game by 6 wickets. While they won the next game against Trinbago Knight Riders they again meekly surrendered in the third game against Jamaica Tallawahs. But since then they have looked like an incredible force winning the next two games against Barbados Tridents and St. Lucia Stars. On both these occasions their bowlers won it for the side especially during the game against St. Lucia Stars.
In terms of batting the side would worry about the form of skipper Chris Gayle who started with a bang and his bat has fallen silent. Evil Lewis’ form still remains a concern at the top of the order while Brandon King, wicketkeeper Devon Thomas and Ben Cutting have looked strong in the middle order. With a finisher like Carlos Brathwaite the team would always count on its chances. The bowling especially in the last two games has come good. Anton Devcich, Sheldon Cottrell and Sandeep Lamichhane have looked good so far especially Lamichhane who is bowling with a great economy rate in most games.
It will be a close contest as both the sides look neck to neck in most areas. But given the kind of momentum that St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have on their side they would definitely start as favourites in this game.
