Sheffield Shield Match 11 Squad Comparison

South Australia

It was a massive loss for Travis Head’s side in the last game against New South Wales. It was their batting that led them down in the last game as the top order failed to provide the kind of start the team management would have expected from them. Having lost two games and drawing the other the side now finds itself at the bottom of the points table. Head will need to inspire his team to do well in the next game. One more loss and they would lose all their hope of playing in the finals of the season.

The problem for the side has been the form of its top order with Jake Weatherald and Henry Hunt not looking in the best for form this season. Callum Ferguson has also been scratchy with his batting. In the middle order, Head and Tom Cooper are looking good for the side. They will need more contributions from the likes of Harry Nielsen and Thomas Andrews as they play the next game. In the bowling department, Chadd Sayers did well on the last game and picked 13 wickets in the game. Wes Agar and Luke Robins also impressed. The side would be expecting a better show with the ball from Andrews and Nick Winter in the next game.

Mathew Wade would be very happy with the way his side played in the last game against Victoria. It was a low scoring game and the side managed to win it by 6 wickets. This after the side had come into the game after suffering a big loss against New South Wales in their second game after drawing the first. It was a complete team effort in the last game where everyone pitched in with their contributions. Wade would be aware of the fact that South Australia is down in form and he would like to exploit that and earn his second victory for the season.

Beau Webster and Alex Doolan aren’t in the best of form at the top and they need to do well for the side to win the next game. Charlie Wakim and Wade played well in the last game and solidify the middle order. George Bailey, Caleb Jewell, and Jake Doran will need to come up with good contributions in the lower order for the side like they did in the previous game. With the ball, Jackson Bird and Galbe Bell are in good form. The side would like them to continue the same way. Alex Pyecroft also did well and the side would want Riley Meredith to support the main bowlers in the upcoming game.

Our Prediction for South Australia vs Tasmania

Tasmania shall win the game

The poor form for South Australia is continuing in Sheffield Shield 2019-20 and the side now plays an important game against Tasmania at their home ground Adelaide Oval. It is a must-win game for the side to stay relevant for the rest of the season. Tasmania, on the other hand, comes into this game with a big win and shall look to carry the same form. It will be an interesting contest where we expect to see good cricket from both sides.

It is a tight call but Tasmania with a win under their belt would start slightly ahead of South Australia in the game.
