South Africa

South Africa

It has been a match practice of sorts for Faf du Plessis and his team in the T20 series so far as never in the two games has the side been put under pressure. He couldn’t have asked for more from his side on his return from injury. The slight issues that they had with their batting in the ODI series have been put behind and the side won both the games comfortably. As they play their final game before the all-important tour of Australia the side would hope to end the home leg of the season on a right note. With the series already have been won the skipper could test his bench strength and see how they fare before going for that important tour.

Batting wise South African side has showed its dominance in both the games. Quinton de Kock who missed out scoring in the first game batted well in the last match. In the middle order skipper Faf du Plessis, Jean-Paul Duminy, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller make up a strong batting unit who can take on Zimbabwean bowlers at will. As for their bowling they have shown it throughout the series that it is too hot to handle for the Zimbabweans. Dane Paterson, Robert Frylinck and Andile Phehlukwayo bowled well in the last game and even though Lungi Ngidi went for few runs in his four overs even without their star leg spinner Imran Tahir the bowling performance would have impressed the captain.

Hamilton Masakadza came to this tour knowing the limited resources he had at his disposal but the performance of his team would have surely disappointed him. After the loss in the ODI series he would have hoped the side’s batsmen to show some determination in the T20 series. But despite batting on good wickets in the two games the side has let him down. It was again poor form with the bat that cost the side the game as apart from Masakadza himself, Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams none of the players seemed to have any clue about scoring runs. He will hope his side puts up a better fight in the upcoming game and they return home with a win under their belt.

The batting for the Zimbabweans have been a tale of disappointments in this tour so far. Masakadza started well but failed to convert in the last game. Solomon Mire didn’t justify his promotion up the order and apart from Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams there was nothing to write about the side’s batting in the series. Peter Moor who performed in the 1st T20 didn’t rescue his side in this game which makes a sorry state of affairs in the batting department. Bowling has fared relatively well in the T20 series but it hasn’t been enough for the side to win. Chris Mpofu and Kyle Jarvis did a decent job with the ball in this game like they did last time. Tendai Chisoro despite bowling series of wides did end up with great economy and Sean Williams also impressed and will look to continue with the form in the next game.

As far as strength and performance of the two sides go South Africa look all set to win the third T20 and seal the three match series 3-0

Our Prediction South Africa vs ZImbabwe 3rd T20

South African team looks favourites with 3rd T20

The results of the 2nd game of the on-going 3 match T20 series between hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe wouldn’t have made news headlines. The visitors were never a match for the formidable South African team and haven’t done any good to their reputation of being pushovers against the best sides in the world. While they had their moments in the ODI series putting the hosts in docks in two of the three games the two games in the T20 leg of their services has been one sided. With the series already in their kitty the South Africans would look forward to making it 3-0 as the sides meet in the final game at Willowmoore Park, Benoni. Zimbabwean skipper Masakadza would hope his side plays for pride and ends another humiliating tour with a win.
