Sheffield Shield Match 5 Squad Comparison

It was a poor start to the season for Usman Khawaja’s team where they went down against New South Wales by 5 wickets. The side batted poorly in both the innings where their batsmen were unable to convert them into big scores. This is something the team would have to work on as they play their next game. The bowlers did a good job against the strong batting line-up that New South Wales had and shall look to continue with the same kind of form in the game that they have to win to earn their first points for the season.

The side would need a good start from Joe Burns and Matthew Renshaw. The latter failed in both the innings in the previous game. Khawaja being the leading batsmen for the side would need to deliver at No. 3 after falling in the last game. Marnus Labuschagne looked in good form and along with Charlie Hemphrey, Sam Heazlett and Jimmy Peirson will have to steer the innings for the side. The bowling attack looked good in the last game especially Cameron Gannon and Michael Neser and they need to pick wickets with the new ball. The skipper would also hope to see better bowling from the likes of Billy Stanlake, Labuschagne and Mark Steketee in the next game.

South Australia

Travis Head would have been impressed with the performance his side put up in the last game against Victoria. After the poor show the side put up last season it was a good fightback from the side after seeing their opponents put up 616 for 6 on the board. A splendid show from the middle order saw them make 671 for 6 in the game that ended in a draw. The skipper would be worried about the performance of his bowlers going into the next game as they proved ineffective in the last one. They will need to pick early wickets to put pressure on their opponents.

Jake Weatherall missed out in the last game and shall look to do well in the next one. His opening partner Henry Hunt looked good in the game. Jake Lehmann too will be looking to score runs in the next game. Tom Cooper with a double hundred in the last game looks good so do the two centurions, Alex Carey, and Thomas Andrews. With Travis Head looking in good form the side has good batting going into the next game. It was toil in the park for the bowlers in the last game and the skipper would look to see a better show from Nick Winter and Thomas Andrews in the next game. Chadd Sayers coming in adds strength to the bowling attack and Adam Zampa would look to use all his experience in the next game.

Our Prediction for Queensland vs South Australia

Queensland shall win this game

In the 5th game of Sheffield Shield 2019-20, Queensland would take on South Australia at The Gabba, Brisbane. The hosts come into this game having suffered a big defeat at the hands of New South Wales in their first game of the season and shall look to win this one and earn their points. South Australia left the setback of the last season behind to draw their last game against Victoria and shall carry that confidence into the game. Queensland shall look to make the best use of the home advantage in the game

It’s a close call between the two sides but Queensland playing at home would start nose ahead of South Australia in the next game.
