Today’s Prediction: Zimbabwe vs Pakistan 4th ODI
Pakistan 364/4 (50) – 233/4 (50) Zimbabwe
PAK won by 131 runs
ODI 5 of 5 (PAK wins 5-0)
The ODI series between Zimbabwe and Pakistan has been rather predictable so far with Pakistan having already won the five-match series 3-0. It’s not just the victories, but rather the convincing nature of the wins that has displayed the difference in quality between the two sides.
The first ODI saw Pakistan post a massive total of 308/7 at Bulawayo on July 13, 2018. In response, Zimbabwe could only muster 107 in 35 overs losing all their wickets. The following match found Zimbabwe batting first and scoring 194/10 before Fakhar Zaman’s unbeaten 117 sculpted a 9-wicket victory for the visitors. The third ODI turned out to be an even more embarrassing affair as the hosts were bowled out for just 67 before Pakistan reached the target with 40-plus overs to spare.
The statistics paint a rather sordid picture for Zimbabwe. Hamilton Masakadza, with an average of 25.33, is their highest run-getter across the last three matches. This is in stark contrast to Pakistani openers Fakhar Zaman (averaging 220.00) and Imam ul-Haq (averaging 57.33).
Zimbabwe bowlers haven’t fared any better either. Tendai Chatara, Donald Tiripano and Blessing Muzarabani lead the pack with 2 wickets each, and they have five Pakistani bowlers ahead of them in the list of most wicket-takers in the series.
It will need a Herculean effort for Masakadza and his teammates to eke out a win against this Pakistani squad in the 4th ODI. Indeed, it hasn’t been a great showing so far, and Pakistan remain clear favorites to hand over a whitewash.
Both Zimbabwe and Pakistan may tweak around a bit with their line-ups now that the fate of the series has been decided. For Pakistan, either of Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Nawaz may get a look-in ahead of one of the middle-order batsmen. Junaid Khan and Yasir Shah may get yet another game. For the home side, the options are barely flattering. 32-year old Elton Chigumbura may once again be benched with Tendai Chatara and Donald Tiripano returning.
Prediction to Win the Match – Zimbabwe vs Pakistan
Pakistan are clear favorites ahead of the 4th ODI. Expect yet another crushing victory for the visitors at the same ground under similar conditions.
As can be expected, the odds are firmly in favor of Pakistan. Bet365 pits a Pakistani win at 1.02 and a Zimbabwe victory at 11.00. The figures at SpinPalace are 1.01 and 10.25 respectively. Hamilton Masakadza holds the key for the home team with the bat and we would recommend betting on him at 11/4 to get the highest score for Zimbabwe. Placing bets on Pakistani players may be risky owing to selection issues, but expect Fakhar Zaman to top score (9/4) if he plays.
