ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers Semi-Final 2 Squad Comparison

Papua New Guinea

Assad Vala’s side has made all the right news in this tournament. While they came into the tournament with one of the strongest teams, few expected them to finish at the top of the points table. Having won five out of their six games in the league stage the side has already earned a ticket to Australia to be in the T20 World Cup. As they go into the next game the side would be playing freely and want to reach the finals of the competition. Having defeated Namibia earlier in the tournament Vala would be confident about the chances of his team in the next game.

Tony Ura and skipper Assad Vala have batted well at the top and have scripted several victories for the side. They would want to repeat their magic in the next game. In the middle order, the side has seen good performances from the likes of Lega Siaka, Charles Amini and Sese Bau and they would want to carry their form into the next game. Norman Vanua has shown his hitting abilities towards the end and shall look to make good use of the long handle. Bowling wise Papua New Guinea has done exceedingly well with their frontline bowlers Vanua, Nosaina Pokana and Damien Ravu having been in brilliant form. With Vala doing well with the ball they have a good bowling attack going into this game.

Namibia

Gerhard Erasmus’ side is in the middle of a wonderful run. In their last playoff game, they defeated one of the best sides in the tournament Oman by 54 runs in what would have seriously sent alarm bells in the Papua New Guinean camp. The side hasn’t looked back since losing the first two games one of which was against Papua New Guinea. They have since then won five consecutive games where their batting and bowling have down well. Erasmus would want his side to put up a strong show and make it to the finals winning the next game.

Stephan Baard and Niko Davin form a good opening pair for the side and the former has done well in the tournament. The side would be expecting a good start from them. JP Kotze, Craig Williams, and Erasmus have done well in the middle overs and they would look to repeat this success against the strong bowling attack that their opponents have. JJ Smit and Zane Green will look to do the hard-hitting towards the end for the side. Bowling wise Jan Frylinck and JJ Smit are bowling economical spells. Bernard Scholtz and Erasmus also look in good form at the moment and shall make like difficult for their opponents.

Our Prediction for Papua New Guinea vs Namibia

Papua New Guinea would win this game

It is the last leg of the tournament and the big semifinal in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers and here Papua New Guinea would take on Namibia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Both sides come here at the back of strong performances in the league stage. Having already earned their tickets to Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup they would now look to clinch the title. There are power hitters on both sides alongside quality bowlers and this game would in most likely end up being a nail bitter.

There is a thin line that separates the two sides at the moment but Papua New Guinea thanks to their better bowling unit will have a slight edge going into this game.
