PAK vs SL 2nd T20I Squad Comparison

Pakistan

Pakistan put up a disappointing performance in the 1st T20I match against Sri Lanka as they failed to chase a 166-runs target. Babar Azam (13), Ahmed Shahzad (4) and Umar Akmal (0) together scored 17 runs at the top. Sarfaraz Ahmed (24) and Iftikhar Ahmed (25) were the only batsmen to cross 20-runs mark for Pakistan. Batsmen number 6 to 9 were out for under 10 runs. Pakistan had lost Babar Azam and Umar Akmal on back to back deliveries in the 2nd over while bowling first Pakistan got the 1st breakthrough in the 10th over when Sri Lanka had scored 84 runs for the 1st wicket.

Mohammad Hasnain was the top bowler for Pakistan with 3 for 37 while Mohammad Amir was wicketless for 25 runs in 4 overs. Hasnain dismissed Dasun Shanka and Shehan Jayasuriya in the 19th over and reduced the impact the two could have caused on the total to some extent. However, other key bowlers for Pakistan including Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf were wicketless while Shadab Khan was expensive for his 1 wicket. Pakistan struggled in both the departments, while the opposition outplayed them with earlier with the bat and then with the ball.

Sri Lanka

Danushka Gunathilaka, the T20I captain for the tour of Pakistan scored an impressive 57 off 38 balls opening for the side. Avishka Fernando and the skipper together added 84 runs for the 1st wicket. While Fernando scored run-a-ball 33, the new addition to the team, Bhanuka Rajapaksa hit 2 fours and 2 sixes to score 32 off 22 balls. The Sri Lanka top-order helped to maintain a decent run-rate and made the biggest contributions.

The middle-order consisting of Dasun Shanaka, Shehan Jayasuriya and Isuru Udana couldn’t contribute much as Jayasuriya was out for 2 off 6 balls. Sri Lanka still has some room for improvement in the death overs. However, the bowling attack made up for the lack of a good finish by the batting lineup. Isuru Udana picked 3 for 11 at an economy of 4.13 while Nuwan Pradeep finished 3 for 20 in 3 overs. Lakshan Sandakan was the only wicket-less bowler who finished with none for 24 in 4 overs. Sri Lanka would go into the next match with heads and confidence high.

Our Prediction for Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan are favourites to win this match

While Sri Lanka outplayed Pakistan in the first match, Pakistan would still continue to be the favourite on top betting sites in India. Pakistan has Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail in the squad who didn’t appear in the playing XI. Zaman could replace Akmal and that could make a huge difference. Pakistan also has good many bowling options in the squad to turn their previous performance around and bounce back stronger in the 2nd T20I.
