Squad Comparison

This will be Pakistan’s 1st ODI Series at home since 2015. While this is a huge moment for Sarfaraz Ahmed leading the Pakistan team in front of the home crowd, the scales are tilted completely in their favor. In addition to the home advantage, the fact that Sri Lanka’s top performers like Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Akila Dhananjaya and Niroshan Dickwella among others have opted out of the tour will also favor Pakistan.

Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and Fakhar Zaman form a strong top-order for Pakistan. Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz are included in the squad as bowling all-rounders while Haris Sohail and Iftikhar Ahmed also have found a spot in the squad. Mohammad Hasnain will be the one to watch out for with his raw pace bowling alongside Mohammad Amir. While Wahab Riaz has got the slower ball in his arsenal and he can get the most out of it towards the death overs.

Sri Lanka

In absence of Dimuth Karunaratne, Lahiru Thirimanne will lead the Sri Lankan team in the ODI Series against Pakistan. While a total of 10 players opted out of this tour including Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera, and Thisara Perera, Sri Lanka would now have their hopes resting on Avishka Fernando. Apart from Thirimanne and Avishka, batting all-rounders Danushka Gunathilaka, and Dasun Shanaka will be playing a crucial role in the middle-order.

Nuwan Pradeep, Wanidu Hasaranga, Kasun Rajitha, and Lahiru Kumara have found a spot in the ODI squad. While the pacers have done well in the recent past at their home venues, they will have to be more accurate now since there’s no Akila Dhananjaya and Dhananjaya de Silva in the squad. Isuru Udana is likely to find a place in the playing XI given his experience while Shehan Jayasuriya would be handy with his right-arm off-break bowling. While this is an ODI series, it is likely to be a real test for the Sri Lankan team playing without their top performers in Pakistan

Our Prediction for Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan are favorites to win this match

Pakistan will be going into the ODI Series with a strong batting and bowling line-up while Sri Lanka has a new captain leading a team without their star performers. Pakistan is the favorite to win on all of the top betting sites in India and it’d take an incredible performance from Sri Lanka to shift the odds in their favor.
