Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed can’t ask for more from his side. They have had an incredible 2018 in T20 cricket winning 16 out of the 18 games they have played so far. The team is playing like a well-oiled machine and today has one of the best bowling attacks for a T20 side at the moment. While Pakistan has always had talented cricketers consistency has been their nemesis. But if their performance in Dubai over the last few weeks is anything to go by the team seems to have got over this problem. The skipper would hope his side doesn’t get complacent and whitewashes the Kiwis in the next game like they did to the Australians.
If there is a good template of T20 batting Pakistanis just displayed it in the last game. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman are doing well at the top and Zaman’s return to form will please the skipper. With Asif Ali, Mohammad Hafeez and Sohaib Malik in the middle and finishers like Sarfaraz and Imad Wasim the line-up has the strength to take on the Kiwis. In the bowling department the side is well balanced with the pace bowling trio of Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf. With spinners Shadab Khan and Mohammad Hafeez to back them they have the right balance that this format of the game demands and can win it against the New Zealanders.
Kane Williamson seems to be clueless as in both the games they had their chances and could have won both of them. This is a terrible situation for any skipper to find himself in as it can seriously demoralize the side when they lose close games in a row. There is nothing wrong the side has done in the two games so far coming from an extended break of six months but they are facing the No. 1 ranked side in its backyard that is on a rampage. The skipper would have to inspire confidence in his side to win the last game and take the momentum in the ODI series starting next week.
New Zealand have a good batting line-up with Glenn Phillips and the hard hitting Colin Munro at the top of the order and both have looked good in the last two games. In the middle order Williamson along with Ross Taylor, Colin de Grandhomme and Corey Anderson have the shots to score quickly against the Pakistani attack. The bowling is somewhat weak for the side with Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi their best bowlers not being able to provide the breakthroughs. Ajaz Patel and de Grandhomme have impressed with their bowling and they need to up their performance in order to win the next game.
Pakistanis are on a roll and given the kind of confidence and momentum they are riding on they can easily win the next game and make it 3-0.
Our Prediction for Pakistan vs New Zealand
Pakistan will win in the 3rd T20
The 3 Match T20 series between New Zealand and Pakistan has already been decided with the hosts winning another thrilling game to make it 2-0 in the series. Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side is playing like a #1 ranked team in this format and blowing oppositions away with all-round performance. At the moment they look invincible in these conditions. While New Zealand did put up a good challenge in last game as they did in the first it wasn’t enough and Pakistan went past the finishing line. With one match to go in the dead rubber at Dubai International Cricket Stadium the visitors would like to win this encounter and enter the ODI leg of the tour with some confidence.
