Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed would be elated with the last win especially the manner in which they defeated the Kiwis after having lost the 1st ODI. In the 1st game they came up against one of the most hostile fast bowling spells in recent times but the side came back strongly in the last game. The bowlers did exceedingly well on a placid pitch to restrict the New Zealanders to a low score and the batmen chased it down comfortably without any hiccups. With a series win at stake in the next match Sarfraz would hope his side plays the same way they have been playing for the last few weeks.
Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman have become a formidable opening pair and built the perfect platform in the last game. Zaman returned to form after a string of average performances and batted the Kiwis out of the game. With Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik in the Top 5 they have a good line-up. Sarfaraz and Imad Wasim have the strokes to finish things in style. As far as their bowling goes Shaheen Afridi has stood out in both the games. Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali are also bowling well and together with Imad Wasim, Shahdab Khan and Mohammad Hafeez they have the resources to trouble the New Zealanders in these conditions.
New Zealanders have themselves to blame for the loss in the last game. While they did have a decent start at the top the middle order barring Ross Taylor blew it up. There wasn’t much on offer from the pitch for the fast bowlers and yet most Kiwi batsmen got out playing poor shots. There was little application from the side thought their innings. While there was little for the bowlers to defend their performance in the last game their performance would also worry skipper Kane Williamson. He would know that the Pakistanis would go for the kill in the next game and there is no room for error if they are to win the series.
Colin Munro and George Worker have not been able to convert their starts to big scores and this is something they would like to change in the third game. In the middle order Kane Williamson, Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls would have to build partnerships and give space to Ross Taylor to express himself. Taylor has looked good in this tour and would like to win it for his side in the next game. In terms of bowling Trent Boult and Tim Southee would like to forget performance from the last game where they went wicket less. Lockie Ferguson impressed in the last game and along with Ish Sodhi he has to pick wickets in the middle overs for his side to win the game.
The two sides look equally matched but Pakistanis have better understanding of the conditions and shall start as favourites for the next game.
Our Prediction for Australia vs South Africa
Pakistan will win the 3rd ODI
The last game of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand is all set for a spectacular finish at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The sides have won a game each and the series is up for grabs in the upcoming game. The Pakistanis who were blown away by Boult in the opening game of the series came back strongly to register a comprehensive win against the visitors. For the hosts who may have lost the last game due to complacency it was a great team effort especially from their bowlers who have set the stage for the last game.
