New Zealand

If there was any doubts why the Pakistanis wear the unpredictability tag the last game was a testimony to this fact. They bowled out the New Zealanders cheaply in both innings and were on course for a comfortable win. But some school boyish hara-kiri in post lunch session of Day 4 saw them loose the Test by mere 4 runs. The team lost its last 7 wickets for mere 41 runs. Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed was terribly shocked at the end of the game. They had the game in the bag right from Day 1 and lost it in a single session. Loses such as these can affect the morale of the side and Sarfraz would have to lift the spirits of the side and make sure they play to their potential in the upcoming game.

On the batting front the last game was low scoring and hence there were small contributions from everyone. Openers Mohammad Hafeez and Imam-ul-Haq will have to lay the perfect platform against a strong pace attack from New Zealand. In the middle order Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail and Babar Azam along with skipper Sarfraz need to capitalize on their starts. As far as bowling is concerned Sarfaraz wouldn’t have much to complain about as Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali bowled well with the new ball. His spinners Bilal Asif and Yasir Shah along with Haris Sohail and Hafeez had a good outing in the last game and would like to continue with the same in the upcoming game.

New Zealand

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson would have cherished the win in the last Test Match. The fact that it came in a game where they were bundled out within two sessions in the 1st innings would have made it even more special. Williamson’s decision to bat on a seaming wicket caught many by surprise and he escaped the criticism thanks to Ajaz Patel’s sensational spell to seal the game. But Williamson would know that the Pakistanis are unlikely to commit such unforced errors again. He can’t afford to sit and relax as the home side would come hard in the next game. There is a chance to win the PAK vs NZ series in the upcoming game and Williamson would like to grab it with both hands.

Tom Latham has to put price in his wicket at the top of the order while Jeet Raval will need to convert his starts into big scores. Kane Williamson looks rock solid at No. 3 and with Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls following him the middle order is strong. If BJ Watling and Colin de Grandhomme play the perfect role in the lower middle order the side will put up a good score. The bowlers pulled off a stunning win in the last game. Trent Boult bowled well with his new ball partner Colin de Grandhomme. But it was the spinner Ajaz Patel who took his side home with an extraordinary spell. With Neil Wagner and Ish Sodhi making up the rest of the attack the Kiwis have it in the arsenal to put up a tough fight.

Our Prediction for Pakistan vs New Zealand 2nd Test Match

Pakistan would win the 2nd Test Match

There is only one word to define the 1st Test Match of the series and i.e. thrilling. After dominating the entire course of the game the Pakistanis lost the game in a single session to some mindless batting. It was the fifth narrowest margin of loss in the history of the game and the lowest in Asia. New Zealand stole the match below the nose of the Pakistanis and till the last hour few in the Kiwi camp would have believed they could win the game. It was a great exhibition of temperament and skills and as the teams move to Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai the contest is expected to be enticing. Pakistanis would come back hard as they can’t afford to lose this game and the New Zealanders would want to seal the series here.

Pakistanis are unlikely to repeat the mistakes they made in the last Test Match and would start as favourites to win the upcoming game.
