Pakistan

Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed would be delighted with the way his bowlers pulled back a game that they had nearly lost. They are the top ranked T20 side and last game’s performance was a testimony to the fact that they have mastered this format of the game. It was a good test of Pakistan’s strength with the openers not having given a good start with the lower middle order that was out of form against the Aussies finally firing in against the Kiwis. With the Kiwis demoralized with the narrow loss Sarfaraz would be looking to increase their agony by making it 2-0 in the next game.

It was a rare failure from Babar Azam in the last game and his opening partner Sahibzada Farhan too went early. This is where skipper Sarfaraz and Mohammad Hafeez brought their experience and steadied the ship. The likes of Asif Ali, Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim can give the perfect finish to their innings. In this long season in UAE Pakistani bowlers have impressed and they did so in the previous game as well. The fast bowling trio of Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali are in great form and if there is good support from Mohammad Hafeez and Shadab Khan they would make it tough for the Kiwis in the next game.

New Zealand

Kane Williamson would be terribly upset with the performance of his team. Chasing 149 they had the chase well in control till the 18th over. Some panic in the middle and few quick wickets and the Pakistanis stole the game from under their nose by 2 runs. The New Zealand skipper would have realised that T20 is an unforgivable format where one bad over can be the difference between win and loss. He would still be happy with the challenge they posed in front of the Pakistanis and hope his side makes it 1-1 upcoming game to keep their hopes alive in the series.

Coming to New Zealand’s batting openers Colin Munro and Glenn Phillips looked in great form and they would like to better their performance in the next game. Skipper Williamson Colin de Grandhomme and Ross Taylor make a very strong middle-order and if they find good support from the likes of Corey Anderson and Tim Seifert they can put up formidable challenge. As far as bowling is concerned the Kiwis had a decent outing in the last game with Ajaz Patel and Adam Milne both coming up with impressive performances. With seasoned Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi in their line-up they can put up stiff challenge for the Pakistani batsmen like they did in the previous game.

New Zealand did scare the Pakistanis something the Australians failed during their series. But with the momentum behind them Pakistan would definitely start as favourites to seal the upcoming game.

Our Prediction for Pakistan vs New Zealand

Pakistan will win the 2nd T20

Another T20 in the Emirates and another Pakistani win, it seems to be just following the script. But the last T20 between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand had its deviation from norm we had seen during the series against Australia. Pakistan lost two wickets early and it was a great display from the middle and lower middle order. The New Zealanders showed some signs of rustiness playing their first international game in almost 6 months but came close to winning it. It was a close fight at Abu Dhabi and now as the action moves to Dubai International Cricket Stadium we expect a closer game.
