New Zealand

Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed would be delighted about the manner in which his side decimated the Australians in the three games to win it 3-0. With the batsmen and bowlers in good form he would like to continue with the momentum and go 1-0 up in the series in the upcoming game. The only bit of worry for the skipper would be the form of his lower order. While they escaped with poor job in the finishing act against the Australians who never looked comfortable chasing the Kiwis are known for their hitting power and inability to put up big scores can cost them the match.

In terms of batting the Pakistanis seem to have come over their unpredictability tag. Openers Babar Azam is in great form and the youngster Sahibzada Farhan justified his selection ahead of Fakhar Zaman in the last T20. Mohammad Hafeez is in great touch and with Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali and Faheem Ashraf in the middle order along with Ahmed they have the firepower for the battle. As far as Pakistan’s bowling arsenal is concerned the skipper would depend on Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf at the start of the bowling with Shadab Khan, Hafeez and Hasan Ali bowling well in the middle and towards the end. They have bowled well against the Aussies and would like to keep the same form in the next game.

New Zealand

Kane Williamson leads a team of confident men who have been performing well in the T20s. But if there is one thing that would bother the New Zealand skipper the most it would be the elongated gap the team has had. They last played in March which is unheard of in today’s cricket calendar where teams and players constantly complain about packed schedules. The team would most likely be little scratchy to start off and given the fact that they are up against a side in red hot form it isn’t the best of propositions to be in. But Williamson would trust his men to show their skills and experience against a formidable Pakistani side.

As far as their batting goes opener Martin Guptil’s absence due to injury is bad news for the side. It would be interesting to see who opens the batting alongside Colin Munro. The middle order is formidable with Williamson, Mark Chapman, Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme and they would come hard at the Pakistani bowlers. It is however their bowling that would be tested in these conditions. Tim Southee is an experienced campaigner but he would miss his bowling partner Trent Boult who is also nursing an injury. Ish Sodhi and Munroe will have to support Southee well for the side to win the game.

Pakistanis are in great form and shall start as favourites to win this game but the Kiwis would like to put up a formidable challenge.

Our Prediction for Pakistan vs New Zealand

Pakistan will win the 1st T20

After demolishing the Australian side in the ODIs and T20s Pakistan starts the next leg of their extended home series in UAE against New Zealand. The Kiwis who have arrived here for a long tour would play against the hosts in all the three formats. They would begin their campaign with a T20 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Pakistan who are the #1 T20 side in the world are in great form would look to continue with the momentum. On the other hand the New Zealanders have been a competitive side in this format and would look to get off to a winning start. It promises to be a great game of cricket at Abu Dhabi.
