Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed couldn’t have asked for a better performance from his side especially from his bowlers. As the No. 1 ranked T20 side in the world and playing in familiar conditions they were expected to win but the emphatic win is what would have pleased the skipper most. The team has a great composition for this format and their recent record is a testimony to this. While the team lost its way while batting from a comfortable 110 for 2 in the 15th over loosing quick wickets the bowlers made the Australians struggle to score runs. With series victory on the cards in the next game Sarfraz would hope his side goes for the kill and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-Match series.
Pakistan has a strong T20 batting line-up and the openers Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam gave perfect start to the team though Zaman failed to score big. Mohammad Hafeez continues to impress in his comeback. While the likes of Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, Faheem Ashraf and skipper Ahmed failed in the last game they make the middle order formidable. As far as bowling goes Sarfaraz would have been impressed with the performance of his bowlers Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf giving the perfect start. With Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan in great form with the ball Australians are likely to have a tough time out there in the middle.
Aussie skipper Aaron Finch would like his team to forget the horrors of the last game. It was a familiar batting collapse by the side which we have already seen in the Test series. The Australians are going through one of the toughest phases with the absence of Smith and Warner who are serving bans. Somewhere the team has lost the killer instincts it is known for. Finch would have been impressed with the way his bowlers pulled back the game in the last five overs but the batsmen let the team down. With the series at stake in the upcoming game he would expect the side to pull out their best game.
Batting performance in the last game was a misery for the side but Aaron Finch and D Arcy Short are a formidable opening pair and would look to give good start to the side in the next game. Chris Lynn along with Glenn Maxwell and the youngster Ben McDermott have to play well in the middle order. Maxwell has to play with some maturity given his seniority. The lower order which has Alex Carey and Aston Agar can’t afford to throw their wickets away. The bowling was decent in the last game with Andrew Tye and Billy Stanlake having bowled well. Adam Zampa and Agar have to bowl well in the middle if the Aussies wish to win the next game and stay alive in the series.
Pakistanis dominate in this format and Aussies are having confidence issues. As it stands Pakistanis are favourites for a win in the next game and may seal the series 2-0.
Our Prediction for Pakistan vs Australia 2nd T20
Pakistan is favourites to win the 2nd T20i
Australia who have dominated world cricket for most part of the last two decades never found their mojo in the shortest format of the game. A T20 title eludes them and they don’t have the same dominating record in the format like they have in Test and ODIs. While few had expected the depleted side to change that record in the 1st T20 versus Pakistan they weren’t expected to falter the way they did. They were bundled out for 89 runs after Pakistanis put up 155 on the board in what is their third lowest T20 total. While the odds may be stacked against them in second T20 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai the Australians are known to bounce back when pushed against the wall and we should have an exciting game on our hands.
