Sheffield Shield Match 10 Squad Comparison

New South Wales

Peter Nevill’s side has looked in great form this season so far and after three games they are on the top of the points table winning all the games. They defeated South Australia by 96 runs in the last game in what was again a great team effort by the side. They look in good form where their batsmen and bowlers have played their roles well in all the three games played so far. The skipper would now want the side to carry the same for against Western Australia and a win here would strengthen their position on the points table for the rest of the season.

Daniel Hughes had a bad day in the last game and shall look to do well in the next one. Nick Larkin is in good form and the youngster Daniel Solway impressed in the last game with a first-innings hundred. They have a strong batting line-up with Moises Henriques, Matthew Gikles and Nicholas Bertus in the side. Nevill and Trent Copeland add strength to batting at the bottom. Copeland, Josh Hazelwood, and Harry Conway bowled brilliantly in the last game for the side. Add Nathan Lyon to the attack and the side definitely has the attack to get the opposition out twice in the game.

Western Australia

Shaun Marsh’s side comes into this game after drawing the last one against Queensland. The skipper would be slightly upset with the way his side bowled in the last game in the first innings but will look to draw several positives from the last game from how his side batted in the first innings of the game, especially in the lower middle order. With two draws and one win, the side isn’t in the best place on the points table and Marsh would look to improve that with a win against the New South Wales in the latter’s den.

Openers Sam Whiteman and Cameron Bancroft are having an extended run of bad form and this is hurting the side. They need to recover ahead of the next game. Marsh and Marcus Stoinis played well in the last game and it was good to see Cameroon Green, Jhye Richardson, and Matthew Kelley batted well in the lower middle order. But the side will need a good show in the middle order form Hilton Cartwright, Josh Philippe, and Josh Inglis. Cartwright did well with the ball and so did Marcus Stoinis. But the skipper would expect the new ball pair of Jhye Richardson and Matthew Kelly to pick wickets with the new ball and David Moody to keep applying pressure from one end.

Our Prediction for NSW vs WA

New South Wales shall win this game

New South Wales has so far looked good in the Sheffield Shield 2019-20 and won all their three games. The side would now play its first home game of the season when they take on Western Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The visitors come here after drawing their last game and don’t look in the best of form. It will require a good team effort on part of the Western Australia side to stop the New South Wales juggernaut which is looking unstoppable at the moment. It will be interesting to see how Western Australia approaches this game.

New South Wales has looked the best side so far in the season and this would make them favorites in the game.
