Netherlands vs Northern Ireland: Betting Tips, Odds & Predictions

Netherlands vs Northern Ireland
Netherlands vs Northern Ireland, Euro 2020 League, De Kuip

Northern Ireland may have started the group off in excellent form by winning their first four games – but the Netherlands’ victory in Germany has really shaken things up.

Our Betting Tips

Northern Ireland may have found life fairly easy against the likes of Belarus and Estonia at the start of the campaign but the game against Germany showed that things would be different from now on in. This could be a struggle for the visitors.

The Netherlands managed to score four goals away from home against Germany – so things could get a little busy for the Northern Ireland keeper here. Memphis Depay is in particularly good form at the moment and would fancy a goal or two.

Head to Head

There have not been many meetings between these two nations – but the Netherlands enjoys the upper hand and won the last fixture 6-0 at home in 2012.

  • This is the Netherlands’ first home game since the Nations League final in the summer. But Rotterdam is a happy hunting ground – the Dutch have won their last 14 games at the Stadion Feijenoord.
  • Thanks to some clever fixture scheduling Northern Ireland topped the group early on with four wins out of four – gaining maximum points from Belarus and Estonia home and away.
  • The Netherlands failed to qualify for either the 2016 European Championship or the 2018 World Cup. The last time before that that the Oranje failed to make consecutive major finals was at the beginning of the 1980s.
  • When Northern Ireland qualified for Euro 2106 in France it was the first time that they had ever made it to the finals of the continental tournament.

Our Prediction for Netherlands vs Northern Ireland

Netherlands to win

Northern Ireland’s early victories did give this group a curious look – but now it does seem like it will be a fight between old rivals Germany and the Netherlands for who tops the table. There is no room for error however, so Ronald Koeman will be making sure his side is ready for this one.
