Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

JJ Smuts’ are second on the points table after five games. They would have been disappointed with their last game against Cape Town Blitz being washed away as it would be have been a great opportunity to win over the table toppers in their home ground. Apart from their solitary loss that interestingly came against the Blitz the side has looked unstoppable in the tournament so far. They have batted well and their bowlers have always been on the money. Smuts would like to win the upcoming game as this would virtually seal their sport for the playoffs.

Smuts and Marco Marais have been in good form this season and would like to continue the same way. Ben Duckett along with Heino Kuhn have both made the perfect Top 4 who have fired on most occasions. But it is the lower order whose performance so far has been wanting and they will have to share responsibility with the Top 4. Chris Morris with the new ball has been brilliant and so has Junior Dala.  It is in the middle overs that someone like Imran Tahir can make all the difference for the side. Sisanda Magala and Aaron Phangiso need provide good support for the side to do well.

Paarl Rocks

Faf du Plessis and his men desperately need a win here to strengthen their position on the points table. While they are No. 3 at the moment a loss here would make it tough for them in the upcoming games. Of the four games they have played so far the side has won twice and lost the same number of games. Their last win against Duran Heat in a rain affected match would have given the side lot of confidence. They have a talented unit and du Plessis would hope his side rises to the occasion and wins to take their dreams further.

Aiden Markram’s return to form makes their opening pair strong with Henry Davids having already played good knocks in the tournament. Faf du Plessis’ presence in the middle order makes it strong and Plessis along with wicketkeeper Mangaliso Mosehle and Vaughn van Jaarsveld can keep up the scoring rate. Bowling has been the headache for the skipper so far. Bjorn Fortuin has been exceptional this season so far but Dane Paterson hasn’t been in the best of form. Tabraiz Shamsi adds strength to their spin attack and it will be tough for opponents to score against him.

Our Prediction for Nelson Mandela Bay Giants vs Paarl Rocks

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants will win this game

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants have been the second best team in Mzansi Super League 2018 without any doubt. They have played well as a unit. Paarl Rocks on the other had have let opportunities slip by their hands and need to pull up their socks to create a chance to reach the playoffs. But they’re a bunch of talented players who have the potential to turn it around. Giants would like to make use of the crowd support at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth and win the game but Rocks who are being led by one of the best captains in the world won’t make it easy. A good game is surely expected from the two teams.

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are playing at home and given their form so far they would start ahead of the Rocks.
