CPL Match 10 Squad Comparison

Jamaica Tallawahs

After their loss in the opening match against Trinbago Knight Riders, Jamaica Tallawahs lost 2 consecutive matches in CPL 2019. While their batting performance against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots was commendable, the Tallawahs couldn’t continue their batting form at home against St Lucia Zouks. Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton were both out cheaply, while Glen Phillips and Rovman Powell together added 87 runs for the 3rd wicket.

The all-rounders at number 5, and 6 also failed to finish the innings on a high note. It was Glen Phillips and Powell’s innings that helped JT get to 170 runs batting first. Oshane Thomas picked 3 for 26 defending the total and was well supported by Shamar Springer. Springer finished 1 for 26, and the rest of the bowling attack conceded runs heavily. Jerome Taylor was the most expensive bowling at 16.50 r.p.o. Tallawahs seem dependent on Oshane Thomas and haven’t got their bowling efforts in sync.

Trinbago Knight Riders

Trinbago Knight Riders have won 3 out of 3 matches so far. All of these wins came at their home venue including the win against Jamaica Tallawahs. Tion Webster and Sunil Narine had starred with the bat against Jamaica getting the Knight Riders to 191-4 batting first. Sunil Narine later picked 2 for 23 defending the target. James Neesham and Mohammad Hasnain will be the lead bowlers for TKR. Hasnain delivered great performance in the season opener while Neesham has consistently picked wickets in all the TKR wins.

When Narine and Webster were dismissed early in the innings chasing 168 in their last match, Lendl Simmons and Denesh Ramdin scored half-centuries. Simmons scored 63 off 39 balls while Ramdin was unbeaten on 50 off 38 as Trinbago Knight Riders won by 7 wickets. Skipper Kieron Pollard also is an important all-rounder in the side. While he wouldn’t bowl a 4-overs spell, he could give the side a breakthrough in an over or two. He also has a big role to play at number 5 followed by James Neesham at number 6.

Our Prediction for JT vs TKR

Trinbago Knight Riders are favorites to win

Jamaica has a lot to work on in the bowling department. They haven’t come together as a unit as far as bowling is concerned. While Trinbago has good wicket-taking options with Narine, Neesham, and Hasnain. Jamaica must have learned that batting line-up alone cannot win them matches.

While TKR starts as favorite to win on most of the betting sites, it will be interesting to see how the odds shift after some early wickets in the match.
